Systema with Mark J: Burst Breathing for Recovery

Спорт

Systema burst breathing is a great skill to have for not only martial application but also for reducing the negative impact of any stressful situation that causes the nervous system to spike. This video provides some insight into the technique of Systema burst breathing. Fear makes us inhale but if there is no space in the lungs to inhale we cannot and the fear increases. Remember you cannot inhale if you have not exhaled.

Great video The problem folks have is that we have developed many bad habits with breathing, so our brain takes over, but with training and lots of practice we can start to recover more quickly and restore a lot of what we have lost in the past. I find a lot of the time you almost have to talk yourself into this stuff.

I am glad you found some value in this video and I hope it helps you out. I hope you do not mind a suggestion. When working out do not work harder than you can properly breathe. This sounds obvious but few in my experience really grasp what I am saying. Once you lose control of your breathing and start doing all mouth breathing you are working too hard and should slow down. Most likely this means your work will be very slow for a period of time (could be months). However, during this time you will be training your body and nervous system to work together and coordinate movement and breathing. As an added benefit, when you train with this coordination you will learn much faster. Over time you will be able to increase the speed and intensity of the workout to any level and still have solid breathing. At a gym I used to train at I had banner that said: "If you can learn it fast, you can learn it twice as fast slow"

Hello sir! I hope you're doing well. I have a question about an exercise. I see there is an exercise where you lay down on floor and have your partner sitting still on your belly. Is it an exercise for breathing?

Hi SpideyK, Sorry for the slow reply, I did not see your comment. The drill you are referring too has many possible options for learning. Getting comfortable and learning to breathe when there is pressure on the lungs is a great skill. Finding where the lung can work and avoiding panic because you cannot breathe normally is not easy and requires practise. This relates to strike absorption.

Yes it does, and the figuring out part never needs. Each insight, opens more possibilities.
