    Seeing Doomer talk was cringe, but at least with Doomer I could say "This is a guy who drunkenly made a dumb point, and now he's hyper defensive and can't come up with good arguments." With Synth? Delusional narcissist. He's not defending his stance, he's just announcing it with no insecurity, no reasoning, taking everything on face value to come towards absolute conclusions.

    Reusing enemies is incredibly important, to keep a consistent setting and feeling for a game series. Imagine if Halo after Combat Evolved diched the Elites, Grunts, Jackals, Hunters Sentinels and the Flood. Leaving us in Halo 2 with only Brutes, Buggers and awkward amount of Prophets. Yeah the game is so much better. One of my actual complaints in Dead Space 3 was it didn't bring back certain enemy types which made the game less interesting. Seriously bringing back old enemies but giving them new tricks is one of the cornerstones of a sequel. It's literally building on what came before and improving it, what every sequel is supposed to strive to do. Like I know Synthetic Man says so much dumb shit but that's legit one of the STUPIDEST (In terms of game design), and his smug/disrespectful attitude towards someone questioning him, is insane.

    What makes it infinitely funnier to me is that as SM talks about that he’s showing footage of Dead Space 2. DS2 is my favorite game of the decade, and it also has my favorite enemies in any survival horror game, those human raptor monsters with dolphin noises, that try to stalk and outsmart the player. That being said if they and the couple other new enemies were the only ones in the game, instead of appearing only a handful of times, they would have never been as memorable or unique as they are.

  • @NikoJr.

    @NikoJr.

    5 ай бұрын

    One of the times where not reusing enemies is a good idea is if you're traveling to different planets (e.g., Ratchet and Clank) and you want to make each planet feel unique by using different flora and fauna. Of course, you can reuse enemies even in that scenario (still using R&C as an example) if you want to have some kind of persistent faction like the Tyrrhanoids in R&C3, with which you can convey the idea of "Hey, the main bad guy has his forces everywhere, he's bad news". You can also just use the same robots here and there to show the influence of a corporation as well, in that their models of robots are in use all over the place. But yeah, SM is being a clown regardless

He's asking for the game designers to start from scratch when making a sequel, which defeats the point of a sequel. Not to mention he is a hypocrite about since the original God of War games reuse enemies just give them new tricks but he doesn't complain there. Giving a unit new tricks is also not lazy. A new trick can include something as simple as a new weapon. Better AI. A melee attack. Different melee attacks/combos. Unlockable attacks. A Dodge roll. A shield. Any number of these combined can change the way you approach and face the enemy and can catch you off guard when they pull out this new option. There is so much you can do to improve them and to throw away the assets you already have is a waste.

What's really funny is you get banned from Yellowflash's chat when you mention synthetic in a negative way, and then his main simp's like SolifRedfield come and and defend him. It creeps me out that we share the same community with these weirdos.

    I know it's kind of a meme to say it in normal contexts, but unironically, SyntheticMan went into GOW:Ragnarok hating it. He has zero patience for this game going in, never listens to any hints or tutorials (ironic considering how obnoxious said tutorials are about handholding the player), doesn't engage with the mechanics at any point, while simultaneously calling the game broken, unbalanced, cheap, lame, and the like. Because if SyntheticMan actually did give GOWR a fair shake he probably wouldn't have nearly as many complaints about it that he does but because he has it set in his mind that the game 'must' be bad, he has to play it like a goddamn Games Journo in order to frame it as such. And as he doesn't engage with the game, the game becomes a worse experience for him, circling into more negativity the further along he does. A perfect self fulfilling prophecy that nets him the benefit of talking about his issues with the story on a meta scale.

    Bit of a random thought here from me, but that reminds me of one of the OG ranters from KZread’s early days, RandomDCE, when he played DMC3. Dude refused to actually engage in it, dismissed any critiques of his playstyle, saying he was being “tactical”, and hated Dante because he was a “self-insert” who does stuff he can’t do in cutscenes. All while ignoring said characters growth over the game, along with him not even trying to use combos and the like. Sad to see that some things never change, even all these decades later, only with other KZreadrs.

    May I ask why is it inherntly bad for someone to be a diverisy hire? If I understand diverity hire correctly it's just someone hired to fill a quota but it doesn't mean they can't also be a skilled actor/actress. I though Angraboda was a fine actress for the size of her role in the game.

  • @raufm.2135

    @raufm.2135

    @@bigtreeguy7336 it's inherently bad because that means merit is not primary metric for hiring. If someone from non-white ethinicity hired it's ok if they were vetted and came out on top. However, when someone is hired because they are of certain ethinicity it is bad because you cut ouf a massive pool of applicants. It is the same for sex based hiring, sexuality based hiring, etc. It is different when a job requires you to have specific look (actor, model, singer, dancer and others) but if a requirement is not justified (I need to hire X because diversity is our strength, because their people suffered in the past, because we need to change the society) it is bad for the organization and for the people hired. Because when they move along in their career people will question their abilities and previous positions because of them being diversity hire. Also, Sweet Baby inc. is problematic because their goal is political in nature. They exist to neuter games and punish those who don't kneel to their demands via bad press and (this might be bs rumor) threaten legal action on the basis of discrimination. It's fine (even kind of required) that if you make a game about ancient Skandinavia, you only see Skandinavians. If devs add other ethnicites they need to explain it. IDK how they did it in GoW but I won't assume malice about the game that still has a strong fun base and when they seem to be happy with the product. Hope I've been clear. It's simply too risky and too unfair to have a diversity hire because then you have a schrodinger's employee, where you don't know if they're capable or not until they either do a good job or mess up catastrophically. Here's an extreme example to exemplify it: Can you imagine if a surgeon was hired for their hair color and no one even bothered to check for a medical degree?

The ENTIRELY OPTIONAL side mission where you help a gay student ask his boyfriend out to homecoming is woke. The ENTIRELY OPTIONAL side mission where you play as Miles' deaf (and black) girlfriend is woke. Peter gets his ass kicked a few times (explained in game as him being stressed and tired after 9-10 years of being Spider-Man). Peter apologises to Mary Jane for being an asshole and tries to placate MJ when she is infected by the symbiote. They didn't have many cops in the game. Just a reminder that this guy is also the same person who called the dead space remake woke because it had bathrooms for men and had anti capitalism graffiti but doesn’t seem to know that was in the original dead space as well and as they pointed out he doesn’t seem to pay attention to the game or it’s story

    I'm a little older than you, but when he mentioned his age I couldn't help remember what I was doing at 27. My wife was pregnant with our second child, I was buying a house... But dude is stuck at 14, but not even a full of potential 14, the greasy, unaware, thoughtless 14. Also happy belated birthday.

    I love when he said “I’m going to get in trouble” and then Atreus said “ where are your parents.” ….what a fool this guy is. And he lives with his mom….which pretty much shows you that he knows nothing about the real world…probably grew up wealthy and never had to work a hard day in his life….

    2:10 You do have to look a little, but what I don't get is he says modern games are scared of gore. If anything I'd say modern games, some AAA, mostly indie, are actually pushing more towards gore. Resident Evil 2 Remake, The Last of Us Part 2, and Dead Island 2 have the best high-quality gore I've seen in any game. Indie games like Peoples Playground, Trepang 2, First Cut: Samurai Duel, and Half Sword are just a few of them that show people still like to see blood and gore all over the place.

    He critiques game journalists’ abilities to play video games that they review or speak on, because he values self reflection. In all seriousness, it is baffling how much of an attitude he has. He is not being comedic in how he speaks about gaming or video games, but simply off putting and rude in a way. How he has ardent followers is beyond me.
