Yes. Singapore is among the countries with strict policies regarding corruption and other forms of crimes. A country where its corrupt politicians are not held accountable is in peril and pose a threat for the futute of s country.

The difference between the Singapore of LKY and the Philippines of FEM was that LKY demanded accountability and cared for the best interests of the nation, you could make the argument that FEM started like this, but in the end, he plundered the nation. Singapore today can be described as a thinly veiled dictatorship, but what many people fail to realize is that Singapore works because it is ruled by an iron hand accompanied by sensible and sensitive governance where freedoms such as speech and the press are still present, albeit limited to a certain extent, but healthily present. Its government demands competence and accountability, things which are lacking in the Philippine government. LKY was dedicated to his nation, Marcos was not.

You know what? The Marcoses should have been banned in the Philippines and should have been banned for re entering politics. It's possible BBM's sister Imee used her position as a senator so that all the cases filed againts BBM in the Comelec will be dismissed/junked given that she's the current chairperson of Senate's Committe on electoral reforms and people's participation. @@punky8084 True. Both ruled with an iron fist, but what set apart Lee Kuan Yew and FEM is the Lee's humility. As powerful as he was in Singapore's domestic politics, his tactics never meant to destroy anyone else but only his political opponent. Operation Coldstore is a good example. Many communists were arrested without trial and detained. Today, the PAP, which was created by Lee, has members who are children of said detainees from Operation Coldstore. Lee Kuan Yew had a vision and he executed them with a plan, barely resulting to foul play to remove his opponents. Marcos on the other hand also had a plan, but it was twisted and marred by dirty political tricks. Marcos was the opposite of a leader with humility; he portrayed elegance and wealth. Lee Kuan Yew was leading rallies in front of thousand supporters, Marcos was hiding behind the TV with martial law enacted. Marcos accomplished many projects albeit with its own dirty share of corruption but, where has that led the country to but decaying infrastructure and debt. Meanwhile, Lee's legacy lives on; the people of Singapore still venerate Lee Kuan Yew and his public service. I am a Filipino who grew up in Singapore and honestly, I find it utterly disgusting when people compare Lee Kuan Yew and Marcos as though they were equals. People who think that are simply tarnishing Lee's name. If both were alive and should there be a war between the two, I would gladly fight under Lee and not Marcos. Marcos can fight the war with his cronies; even the army would desert him just like EDSA in 1986.

Marcos still seems to be the last great president of our country. Greed overtook him though and tarnished his and his family's reputation which may never be repaired. FEM is like the true CEO running the company with his iron will - but sadly he also had his hands in the company coffers. Those that followed him can be compared to secretaries, mid level managers and even custodians in the corporate ladder. Until we get a true CEO again, this country will never prosper to the level of SG or HKG (never mind China).
