Here's a fun little fact at Star City - they allow players to go south. I had a guy suck out and double through me in a cash game. He immediately stuffed his winnings into his pocket and dropped his stack back to the min buy-in. I queried the dealer and they said its allowed.

Yikes! Okay I'm pinning this comment - can other people there confirm this is true? If so, that's definitely something people need to know about.

@@pokerroomreviews It's not allowed by most staff. The issue is that the staff overall at Star Poker are so utterly incompetent that something like this could happen. Many staff don't know the rules, don't know which hand wins at showdown, don't calculate the rake correctly and will just take max when they shouldn't, can't handle side pots, etc. It seems that the least competent new hires are assigned to poker because the casino rightly doesn't trust them with house money.

Definitely not allowed at Star. But they’re bad at consistency in enforcing rules.
Just in time for my Sydney trip this Thursday, thank you!
Well covered, i play there regulalrly and everything you said is correct.
Actually the wait list is terrible to get a seat at 2/3 took 3 hours last time I went and it was a weekday in the afternoon, no royal jackpot, no bad beat jackpot and very bad rake, and they also restrict the hours you’re able to play 12 hrs max per day and they ban a lot of people for going to the casino too often because of “gambling addiction” and often don’t specify the reason you were banned
Thanks for another great review
4 stars seems ridiculously generous Cons: - Wait times are often horrible in mid afternoon (on the order of hours), and to exacerbate that the wait times are inconsistent so you can’t plan around them. Wait times are probably bad in prime time too, but I usually start earlier - You can’t receive a text when a seat becomes available unless you have an Australian phone number - No rewards - High rake (but standard for Australia) - Dealers seem to start working before they’re trained, so you should not be surprised to encounter a dealer who has no F’ing clue what they’re doing and taking like 5 minutes for each hand. Pros: - The only place in/near the actual city where you can play cash games - The games are mostly soft They also do have some weird rules. Unfortunately, I’ve forgotten some of the specifics. The only thing that sticks with me is that their rules around, e.g., betting out of turn are generally bad and *facilitate* angling instead of the opposite.
Amazing work. 😊
If I am looking for a Pimp in Poker I move to Sydney and pay 10% cap 15$.
I goes there 3 times and all premium hands loses to fish loose chinese players I think shuffle machine generate pre played games I played a lot of countries and all game shuffles by hand
Unless there has been a change in the last 3 months, no rewards are given to poker players. Also, $10/$20 and above pay time charge not rake. $350/h IIRC.
hmm, what happened to the royal flush jackpot? it was there and went off while I played in March 2023

I think it must have disappeared? But March doesn't seem all that long ago. Perhaps someone can clarify in the comments.
