Anyone here in 2024? I first heard this group in '92; I was visiting VA from NY and decided to stick around (for a few years as it would turn out). I was instantly in love with these girls despite never having laid eyes on them at that time. They became and still remain my favorite girl R&B group from the 90s...this album, every track was fire. I miss those days.

They sampled Jaco Pastorious' bass intro from 'Portrait of Tracy' (also called 'Tracy's Portrait') a song for his wife, completely and exclusively played on the electric bass. Jaco was a revolutionary bass player who changed the role of bass in music but many don't know about him. R.I.P. The use of the sample in this song and a few other songs makes me so happy because that's how you keep forgotten music alive.

When compared to groups like Destiny's Child, En Vouge, Total, Exscape, I don't feel their name gets brought up a lot

Strange part is that Tyrese is dancing in the video then make a song with Chingy using the same beat song called Holding me back

I like how on the production, the producer blended the sound of a raindrop with the snare kick. That was very clever, as well as creative.

"Rain" was written and produced by the great, underrated Brian A. Morgan. Whenever he and SWV work together, they create magic. BAM established the sound of SWV, in addition to penning and producing most of their hits. For the next SWV album, he needs to be involved.

2024 still and forever a classic

First time I heard this it struck me so hard, and I didn't know why I was also new into my study of jazz and realised later that this harmony is from Jaco Pastorius' Portrait of Tracy, one of the most sophisticated pieces ever written. I was so lucky to grow up in the 90s when music was so deep below the surface but still hit the way pop should. This one hasn't gotten old one bit.
