Got water inside my switch and went looking for some quick fix online, found your video and realized I was way out of my depth, but I learned a lot 👍

Great video. Recently picked up a water damaged switch as well. Bq and m92 had corrosion cleaned up and reflowed the ic. Cleaned up the backlight circuit as well, lucky no damage on the ribbon cables but all up and running. Can’t wait for the backlight tutorials

This gives me hope. I spilled my drink on my last week. I'm too afraid to open this myself but it hasn't turned on even after being in rice. I'm taking it to be looked at today.

@@RetroSix the thing u mentioned I actually did.. I plugged battery in then the connector but didn't push it in straight, the next thing I know there is smoke coming from the back light chips.. Obviously shorted pins... Not good..

Really love your videos, and how you explain your methods. I do repair these quite alot, but even so, I do learn from you so thanks. I've only had that unable to charge message, on 5v charges where the soc is damaged. (also won't go into rcm on a unpatched switch. but they charge normally on on 15v and Dock etc. Is your unable to charge message, simply because the power brick you used not powerfull enough, to power the screen and battery at the same time?

  • @RetroSix

Yes I was just powering from 5V at the time, after the video I used 12V and was fine

Hello, thank you very much for your videos. I need a little support, maybe you can help me or give me ideas. I have a Switch Lite that when I want to turn it on with the laboratory source like the video I have a consumption of around 160mA for a couple of seconds and then it turns off (I did put the 10K resistor on it) When I have it with the battery and the charger it charges the battery, and it even turns on (It turns on the fan, and heats up the processor) but it doesn't give an image. What could I try to diagnose?

Sounds like your bench powering is limiting the current or wrong setup. Jump on discord.gg/RetroSix for more help

@@RetroSix Yes, I read that on the Wiki, but my source is capable of supplying 5A, and I have it configured at 2.5A. I was thinking that it could be the cables that I use to make the jumpers on the Switch, but I use ones similar to the gauge of the that you use in your video.

Have you got a bench power? And tried the RetroSix.wiki guide to powering from bench directly. It could be dead battery
