The newer version you cannot access the inside of the motor to spin. However a few taps with the handle of a screwdriver was enough to unfreeze mine. I used a rubber handled screwdriver so I recommend caution to not dent the motor. Took about 10-15 gentle taps

Same here, had the newer smaller motor, but nothing I did got it to work (even connecting it to higher voltage power source). After (destructive) disassembly I discovered that one of the tiny brushes on the motor had been corroded by moisture, I've only used the Swiffer three times so this is absolutely a case of poor engineering causing premature obsolescence. If they actually wanted to make a product that lasted they would have used gears to pivot the motor out of the pack of leaking water, and add vents to the outer casing so it can dry/drain naturally. Product is junk, can't recommend it to anyone as there's no guarantee it will last. Anyone who has this problem and can't unfreeze the motor can try sticking a toothpick in the bottom of the motor, there are two curved slots in the center, you can see on each side a tiny paperclip-thick piece of shiny metal, those are the brushes, you can hold down the button on the handle while gently pushing them around to see if it starts working.

If you have a newer model and tapping it did not work. The new model has two very tiny holes on the top of the motor. That you can squeeze a very tiny screwdriver through to reach and spin the motor manually. I used the tiniest screwdriver that people use to tighten their glasses to get in there and spin it. This worked for me. Please like so people don’t have to buy another pos swiffer👍

Lol, as others stated, our motor didn’t allow access to the inside but we did as Bob Ross says and “beat the devil out of it” with the handle of our screwdriver and it did the trick.

Bought one. Motor froze. Opened it up and whaddaya know, they deliberately closed the window so we can't fix them. Keep your old ones as long as you can because they found a way to make you buy a new one when there should be plenty of life left in them. Trying to get my wife to NOT buy a new one.

Mine is the newer version and the advice of Aaron helped me too. In retrospect I am wondering if my switch to the "quick drying" version of the Swiffer wood floor solution may have been a factor.

Thank you so much, I was about to toss mine and buy a new one, decided to take a look on KZread and your video saved the day! It works like new , the two small screws was the hardest part trying to put them back in but finally decided to use the tweezers to hold it with because I do not have a magnetic screwdriver and that made it easier . Thanks again for your video ❤

Wow! Interesting. I know I would struggle opening the unit, let alone cleaning out the motor and putting it back together.I bought a swifter wet jet, used it one time and it stopped working…? I kinda think the button is jammed…? I bought a new one. Thanks for this video. I think I’ll try it. Although I’m not sure it’s the motor on mine. Maybe we should remove the bottle after use?

I had to pry it off the top, cause there's a lip inside to lock the lid cap on. I had to pull the 2 top prongs out then push the buttons to release the liquid bottle, to be able to get the lid off finally. It was a struggle for me. Then to top it off, I put the pad piece on backwards.
