Unit please? Not to go, to avoid. Or do I need a go hunt subscription to get that small detail.

As a nevada resident who has hunted mule deer for 10 years it seems like the "big" bucks genetics have been hunted out

In the late sixties in Elko county you could shoot 3 deer a season! An any buck tag a doe tag & an antlerless tag or 4" max spike.

my first 2 deer were in N. of Elko as a 14&15 yr old in 1968-1969. Biggest mule deer i've seen ever were on those hunts. Old Jim my dad's friend shot a 4x4 over 32" my first year, Jim was in his mid 70s best shot i've ever known! ww1& 2 vet.

Ain’t many deer left in Nevada. That’s a 3-5 year tag for a resident and most don’t even want it. Really rough country and those roads end right where they camped you can’t drive in there anymore. I do that tag but for archery every year and it’s reallly really difficult. Huge country and not a ton of deer anymore and loads of hikers everywhere. They hand out so many tags for it every year so that’s the typical buck you will find in there lots of 3x4 and forks. There is bigger deer in there just a lot fewer then there used to be it’s pretty sad.

Nevada has great mule deer hunting . Easy to get non res tags to. Early archery their still in velvet and bucks are running together.

The way that states like Nevada and Arizona reallocate tags that are turned in is a slap in the face to everyone who applies in their draws

  • @mylesburdett7518

Yes it is. Even applying as an alternate in case of a return most still go into the first come system. Pretty annoying when someone posts "got the tag online. Never been there where should I start" on a unit that is your first choice on the application.
