My old neighborhood! So many memories! Thank You!!!
Great memories, lived by Doves , great neighborhood back in the day .
At least we will ALWAYS have Mt.Greenwood!
I grew up in Detroit in the 60's on Michigan Ave and it looked the same. The good days. Our streets were safe in my neighborhood and there were no boarded up store fronts. Great memories thanks for the post.
My friend/classmate from Kennedy HS just sent me this video. Great memories....well done.
Another great video and must see for all the Southwest-sider!
Thanks for the variety unlike the millions of other videos that seem to only focus on downtown Chicago ! There's definitely more to Chicago history than just skyscrapers !!!
53rd and Peoria, Visitation Parish. All Polish to the north, Irish to the south, Ukies a bit further west, "Coloreds" east of the viaducts. Sherman Park to play, swim and grow up in. Go Colts! When the wind came from the north. P/U! Stockyards!. It was never called 47th and Ashland, always 47th and Goldblatts. Peoples theater around corner. Cruise Lourdes HS at 56th and Pulaski or Gage Park, 55th and Rockwell for girls. Dem was da daze!!
MISSING: Michael Kirby's ICE ARENA, Wimp's Slaughterhouse just OUTSIDE of the Unio Stock Yards, , Nicky's Big Baby's Hamburgers on Archer Avenue, PIG PEN BBQ Restaurant on 59th and Racine (northwest corner), The Girls at Gage Park High School. Nice to see Sheridan Drive-In ... amazing what a teenage boy could learn in the backseat at that place ... and Marquette Park too.

111th and Pulaski in Mt Greenwood. Wow! The best times!!! Thank you!!! Although I'm far from home in Washington state, the Southside of Chicago has my heart!
55th and Oakley here. We never locked our doors unless there'd be nobody home for a while.

Watching this is always another trip down memory lane on the SW side, I can relate to the Dove candy on Pulaski road amongst the many businesses, I remember the Huck Finn donuts shop but the location escapes me unless someone out there recalls where

Huck Finn was on 67th Pulaski
Lol! I can remember going on picnics at Red Gate Woods when I was a kid with the parents back in the 1970's not knowing that it was a nuclear toxic area!
My house in the background when the bride gets out of her limo at St. Augustine's Church. It doesn't look like that now!
This is great. I remember just about all of these spots, here and in the part 1 video as well. I can't seem to find part 3. Is there a link?
❤👍
Oh my gosh, what great fun we had in the 60's, 70's and so on.....I forgot about some of these "joints"
