saw this performed in Dublin on a fiddle/guitar in the Quay Temple Bar. Was fantastic, searched utube for more and came accross this version. Brilliant
There's something really cool about this being played in an empty hall. Say's something about the under appreciated instruments of old. Awesome. loved it.
This man and this cover is a big reason as to why I started playing the violin. It's been years and I'm still not very good but this cover will always hold a very special place in my heart. I'm not totally sure why but when I was younger whenever things got tough I would listen to this on repeat and then grab my own violin and play my heart out until I felt better and it ALWAYS seemed to help.

That really means a lot to me. Thank you for sharing ❤️
Now that's what you call a committed performance. You stayed with it the whole time -- hard to imply all those parts and keep the flow, but you did -- captured the feel of the original and imbued it with you own thing. Pretty rockin'.

Thank you. I play some cello and electric bass -- and played doublebass when I was younger. I would try to play multiple parts on the big bass in high school, just goofing around. You've only got the one hand fingering, so you can't move the parts around as freely as you would on a piano -- you've got to pick and choose which notes you can "grab", choose the voicing/octave, jump around and try to keep the notes "sustaining" in the ear of the listener... Bach's writing for violin and cello -- even for flute -- exploits and explores the same stuff, as you know. I try to do some of the same stuff on EB and cello now and then -- though I'm nowhere near your level... anyway, I enjoyed and appreciated the performance.
How did u play both bass and treble part of song u must b musician and magician owed my respect awesome work
I tried playing this when the Rocking Fiddle Challenge came out! At that time I had played the violin for just over 10 years and had led orchestras in my high school and played in many bands. After a few weeks practising every night and watching Adam's great tutorial videos, I still could only just about manage the first 16 bars!! Adam absolutely smashes this, I will never ever reach anywhere near his standard of performance. This is still my favourite ever violin performance!! Adam was also kind enough spend an hour of his busy time to record his answers to some of my questions about his music and this piece in particular for me to edit into a radio programme I was creating for Uni. Amazing violinist and a top, top guy!!
This inspired me to pick up violin such that I can one day be able to play this song. Been practicing for a year now and I can almost get through the beginning. Still ways to go!

Legend speaks of men who possess the power of a whole rock band in a solo violin performance. They were gods (or at least somewhere near)
obviously my knowledge on what can be done on a violin are severely lacking.

Dem some skills bro. Wow Adam the soul you put into that was epic, and playing both guitars notes together one a guitar would be difficult and you do it on a fiddle. +Adam DeGraff Please do this in HD. I dont play an instrument(in high school lol) but i was doing a fiddle violin history surf and it lead to you. I love music. Im breathless as you go from one technique to the next. but it felt like a dream cause of 240 lol. I live in NYC where street musicians are sprinkled thruout the city and train stations. I say this cause like to stand and take on a good musician and 90% of what i stop for is a guy putting his passion on the pavement. And its amazing to watch live. As this would be in at least 720p. Added that I will play this from my youtube app on my TV playing directly to my speakers If you make a new one I think the added fidelity of the video would make it that more enchanted experience. It would add on to the visceral experience as a non player like me and I'll notice with clarity the accuracy and pressures needed to pull off what seems to be seamless. Seeing you go from one technique to the next in your fluid fashion. Its worth it to get a warm up practice and refilm it. Soon 4k tv's will be playing your videos!! Good lighting. Quality audio/video capture and it'll be captured and documented for the hi-fi modern age. Its worth it...and thanks for the video and sharing your skill as well. It was felt.
