The speed is one thing, but the clarity and consistency is what makes it truly remarkable!

Can't help but watch Swapanda here & listen to his tabla again & again & again & again .... absolutely divine

First time I listened to his tabla, where he had accompanied Pt Nikhil Banerjee. It is vinyl LP with Sindhu Bhairavi. Rhythmic pattern being 16 beats sitarkhani. Must be some 4 decades earlier. A treat of course. The present piece is a masterly clip. Dher dher with the pads of the palm of right hand, is an example for students to emulate and for connoisseurs to enjoy. I listen to this piece daily at least 5-6 times. Best part is when the second rhythmic cycle ends, and on the first note of the third cycle, left hand opens. Just unmatched. Besides, the way he carries himself, the confidence, the joy... Heavenly. Thanks for sharing it. 🙏

Every guru , pandit , ustad are unique in their own way But when it comes to swapan guruji's dhere dhere - nobody can even think of matching the divinity that pandit ji brings Zakir hussain guruji once said about pandit ji - agar swapan guruji jesa dhir dhir bajana h to kalai tutne se darr nhi lagna chaiye . Zakir ji ka matlab tha ki swapan ji ka dhir dhir bajane ka style esa h ki agar koi try kare to kalai sooj jaegi and unbearable pain hoga. Anokhelal guruji also used to play with same type of dhir dhir

Pl listen Pt Anokhelalji...Pt Swapan Chowdhury himself was in all praise for Anokhelalji...you may find that in youtube as well...a lecture demonstration...But he is also superb.

Please don’t compare artists. First, Pt. Anokhelal is from Benaras Gharana and Swapan-da is from Lakhnow Gharana. Second, they are more than a generation apart. Just enjoy the great performance. 🙏
