Swanage Railway: Victorian Weekend 22~24/3/24

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The Swanage Railway is an 9.5 mile stretch of preserved Railway line located in Dorset between Wareham and Swanage.
During this weekend, the Railway held a special celebration dubbed as the “The Victorian Weekend”. This included an intensive service across the weekend. The main draw for this event would be the visiting SE&CR 01 Class No 65 which rubbed shoulders with the Swanage’s very own resident LSWR T3 Class No 563.
No 65 is usually based at the Bluebell Railway in East Sussex and is rarely seen off Bluebell metals bar two exceptions. The most recent example was last year at the Spa Valley Railway for their Southern Steam Up.The T3 and the 01 made for an interesting double header pairing as both are sole survivors of their class in preservation.
Joining the Victorian pairing, Rebuilt 'West Country' Class no 34028 ‘Eddystone’ and U Class 31806 would also be hauling services during the weekend and even had to haul an unexpected double header on Friday due to a set being withdrawn due to a hot box problem. This problem allowed for a unique opportunity on the Saturday & Sunday with no spare brake coach available, a Class 117 DMU would be utilised to fill the gap.
