Just got one of these today... taught myself to ride it in under 2 min .. within three hours, I got it stuck off trail after to climbing old logging trails up mt Shasta and running out of road. Had a frustrating moment after laying down the bike between a low hangin cedar tree and a boulder in 6 inches of duff over large rocks... after dislodging it rode the right back to the trail and immediately launched myself off the bike with a handful of front brake and landed on my back picked the bike up and raged off .. this bike is the shit plain and simple easy beginner bike (apparently) and really fun in technical rock/dusty sandy stuff with steep grades

I got this bike and took it to silver lake sand dunes in Michigan and it handled it a lot better than the DRZ-400 in steering and balance, but it heats up so bad that you can only take it so far. However trails are really good. And if your not into speed but power, give it a smaller front sprocket and it does great. With the small sprocket on mine it can only get up to about 55 though, but it's still fun to just whip around on at the dunes.

I bought mine brand new one month ago and absolutely love this little beast of a machine! One question, does anyone out there know why some of the DR200's come with a mat black gas cap and others come with a chrome gas cap? AND, the chrome gas cap has a little lock dust cover over it whereas the black gas caps do not. It doesn't seem to be relative to the year of the bike, either. Just wondering...

Ok wtf I use this as a dirt bike like 95% mud gravel 5% blacktop and I can barely get a top speed of 50 miles per hour before it is reving so hard it feels like it’s about to blow up even when leaning down to reduce wind resistance it is just can’t do over 50 and it is only comfy at 45 mph where it isn’t wound so tight it isn’t going to throw a rod after riding at that speed for a little while(don’t mention trying to hold 45 on a incline try for more like 25mph wound right in 3rd gear after having to downshift twice because it can’t pull up the hill). So because of its horrible top speed I have used it as a heavy dirtbike I’ve put 3000 miles on it (bought brand new and Broke in correctly) off-road and with a little on blacktop. bear in mind this has been through some of the roughest roads you have ever seen that the only thing that gets through there is a horse or a dirtbike or 4 wheeler when it’s dry but it has done well stock tires had let sticks go through multiple times leaving me stuck with a flat in the middle of nowhere so that was soon replaced with a Bridgestone and it goes just fine off-road and on the blacktop quickly pulling out of a gravel road onto another gravel that leads to the middle of nowhere again. All in all I hate it for being lied to it can take a max speed of 70 when I bought it( they couldn’t do road test drives only around the tiny parking lot) and yes it was a certified dealership I don’t know why mine doesn’t reach this speed but by the time I got it home ( in the bed of truck ) and was easy on it till the 500 mile break in was done I went to open it up and was so pissed it couldn’t go a legal speed and I couldn’t bring it back tried selling it on the side of road nobody wanted it because it won’t go the speed limit so I’m stuck with my shitty ass dirtbike that I am stuck with and yes I attempted a sprocket change 5 actually I got a very aggressive change and it couldn’t take off without stalling or burning the clutch so changed a few teeth again better got a ok speed of 55 comfy Rpm and I took a 25degree incline and I couldn’t go up it in second gear barely and the others didn’t change it so it’s back on stock sprocket so there is my story with my Suzuki that I am fucking stuck with that nobody will buy sorry Suzuki but you lost me on this major waste of my fucking money sorry for the story and poor setup I barely passed college and high school English for a reason and I know the story goes to different topics but they are all true and another thing yes I did research on it before I spent money and yes it’s a real Suzuki bike and yes it did feel powerful in the first 3 gears in that parking lot like it could reach 70 if you actually hit it hard I just cannot explain in words my disappointment in Suzuki for this I still trust Suzuki but not like I did after this disaster

I would recommend buying one if you had a second bike. One that could go faster then 73.. lol. I complain about the weight of the DR all the time. But thats only because im pushing it well past its limits. Trying to ride it like a motocross bike. If you watch some of my latest DR650 Adventure videos. you will see what i mean hehe

A Few thing to also note with the DR200S to the DR200SE Trojan. the Trojan SE can not be road registered in my country Australia or Europe. The Trojan has a higher emission standard and does not pass emission regulations in Australia or the EU. IT comes with hands bar protectors front engine bar guard. Bash plate, Head light bar protector and carry rack and rear 30cm x 40nm back rack for $4000 AUD that is less then $3000 USD I pay for 2018 DR200SE Trojan brand new. Also didn't come with mirrors or horn. I hear some review saying that there is lag with exceleration. Not with my bike so I think that lag maybe cause by the emission controlling application to road registration models.

The road version is very slow due to a really restrictive oversized vaccum operated carburator and there is also some restrictor in the exhaust. These things makes the bike incredibly slow to gain rpm and speed and is generally pretty meh performance wise. Rip out the original carb and replace it with a PWK or similar and the bike can finally rip pretty good. As for the exhaust restrictor I did not feel too much difference putting on a DG slip on. However the carb swap was a huge surprise.

My friend loved taking it out for runs, and with me following in my 5.0 Capri, he hit 90+ on the 118 Freeway in L.A. according to my speedo, which he confirmed was showing on the Suzuki's speedo. Then again, the 250 was rated at 29 HP. Loved that bike...

Have you seen those add-on seats for dual sports, where there's a foam roll on either side of the seat connected by a strap across the top? They're supposed to do a lot for long distance comfort.

@@nsxproperties560 Its got enough for 2nd gear. But like you said, if you dont have the skill.. ( I don't). My buddy Derek, his KZread channel is Informal llama. He can wheelie anything, for days.. He was telling me if a bike just doesn't have enough. He starts the wheelie in 1st then shifts into 2nd. Ofcourse you have to be really good to get to balance point, and shift mid wheelie. From my experience adding power does not teach you proper technique. But at the same time, how do you learn if you cant experiment..

He can't expect to get power and whatever else from a 200cc like a 650cc. He is putting the bike down the whole time likely knowing his wife will watch it. He seems like he is looking to get power from the bike that it is incapable of giving like the 650cc. Have to remember to compare it to other 200cc bikes.or else you would obviously not be satisfied with results when comparing with a bigger, faster, stronger bike
