    I have a 2009 Dr200. I'm 6'1 145 lbs. Needs bar risers. Just a fun simple easy to maintain bike. Love the Tank size. I love it for what it is. 😂 It's Terribly Fun. B.C. 🇨🇦 🍻 I have added additional oiled air filter Foam BEFORE the air box intake for additional filtering. I ♥ my laughable 200. I DO NOT take it on the Highways. 95% Offroad. Kenda Trackmaster tires.

    Yep, don't have to fill the tank very often 😁, and yeah a lot of fun if not taken to seriously and accept the bike for what it is 👍

    G'Day Mate. Great video, thanks for sharing all the info and your thoughts. I recently sold my DR200, bought a DRZ400. I really loved the bike, had it for about 6 months or so and outgrew it. It was simple, efficient and easy bike to find your feet on. It gets you anywhere, but nowhere fast!. Thanks for all the content, it was because of you I ended up starting on the DR200. Cheers

    Great to hear 👍 It doesn't take long to feel the itch for more power, go easy on that DRZ though, alot of new riders find it abit of a handful lol. Just watched all ya vids and subbed, I love watching new riders progress, keep'em coming !

    @@DR200Gold im thinking either a 1999 dr200se thats for sale in my area or a 2022 kawasaki klr 230 for the fact that i dont want an old bike shitting the bed on me. havent decided just yet.

    @@rowanlawson8914 I almost bought the 230 in stead of the DR, but if I remember the seat height put me off. Although if I knew at the time I'd be waiting 6 months for the DR to arrive I probably would have got the klx230.

    3:15 completly disagree. This bike is severly restricted by an oversized CV carb and the exhaust also have some restrictor. I mean its not just a little extra you get its night and day if you put on say an OKO PWK or Mikuni VM or TM carb then either remove the restrictions in the exhaust or get a new exhaust. Good carb is like 100 usd and having someone modify the exhaust I guess a welder can do for 50.

    I dont remember exactly what I said, but I think it was something like "each to their own".... I'm sure swapping out the carb, banging on a pipe ect would help liven the bike up a bit, but.... dare I say, our opinions of the difference between "night and day" are vastly different. I may eventually get around to trying it someday but highly doubt I'd be surprised by the results.

    Normally you would be right. However this bike is the exception. The dr200 actually used to be a powerful little enduro for the displacement with a TM28 Mikuni flatslide pumper and 20hp at crank back in 86. The power of the engine is sadly masked off by an oversized CV carb and restrictive exhaust to pass emissions these days. Watch Torturetestmagazines dr200 build. @DR200Gold

    Informative video, thanks! One question though, What is your weight and height? I'm living as an expat in Central America where nobody rides big bikes. I'm used to Harley's and I'm 6'2" at 250 lbs. Need to know if it's going to be too small of a bike for me to put around on.

  • @DR200Gold

    @DR200Gold

    I'm a short arse only 5'6" and 125 lbs. I'd say the bike would be fine as a run about but might struggle a bit on steeper hills and higher speed .

    Could be done I guess, if you avoid any high speed freeways and highways with a lot of traffic. Would be a very fuel efficient means of travel, and I'd say reliability would not be a problem but would recommend a nice big, soft, sheep skin for the seat lol and maybe a make shift windscreen. On the plus side it's easy to manoeuvre on tight tracks and doesn't require 3 people to pick it up when you drop it ect. Also depending on the amount of weight you have on it, you may find it struggling a little on some bigger hills. One last thought.... elevation, with no fuel injection may be an issue though I'm not sure but I do know there are some big, high mountains over there.

    Swap out the carb. Will gain a ton of Performance. Get a Mikuni vm26 606 for around 130 usd and you basically got a new bike in terms of performance its that big of a difference.
