I bought a 2009 model in 2009 and rode it until 2019 (included), then had to sell it (in 2020), unfortunately. Great bike, I can definitely confirm that. I made some 70k km on it both solo and with a co-rider, out of which some 5 seasons were lots of travelling fully loaded (yeah, moto-vacations are my thing). I got back to VL800 in April this year (a 2003 carbureted model) and felt the same way about the greatness of the bike. Two weeks ago I started to saddle the US version of the VL1500, the C90T, so I gave the Volusia to my GF, who is really enjoying it and improves significantly from one ride to another. It is a great testimony to not only her skills, but also to how easy this bike is to handle, even for total newcomers. The top speed vs comfy travel speeds.. I love the engine's purring sound, which is there in between ~70kmh and ~100kmh, and it is still very comfortable in the higher range of up to 130kmh. Above that, regardless of the load, it starts to vibrate too much and kind of "floats" on the road - I noticed that at around 140kmh. I did that a few times, of course, it was OK and still safe, but it really exhausted me at a hastened pace, compared to my usual afore-mentioned "comfy" speeds. And yeah, once, trying to run from the storm, I hit over 150kmh, but it was really a very uncomfortable & tiring ride. Aa I have had the opportunity to compare it to its "counterparts" mentioned in the video, let me share my personal experiences.. The HD Sportster 883 (and I tried also the 1200 version - with very similar results) is more powerful and kicks-in really from the bottom, but it is way to rumbly and shaky and less comfortable. IMHO it is more of a chopper than a cruiser (as there's small but fat back tire and big but thin front one). I didn;t enjoy the experience at all, as after some 50km, I was tempted to stop and take UBER to a chiropractor 😀. The story with Yamaha XV950 was similar, just without the feeling of my tooth filling wanting to drop out. The Honda VT750 fared a bit better already, but to my surprise, it was quite weak (for its engine), far less nimble and its chain drive was freaking noisy. BTW per my then-GF, its double exhaust put into a single muffler looked like a giant dildo. The best of the bunch was definitely the Kawasaki VN900 Classic - I'd say this one was the closest competitor, as the engine delivered even slightly more power and the belt drive was fine & worked smoothly. But there was something about the seat a/o seating position that was a bit off - I have a hunch that the floorpads were too high for my comfort and handlebars a bit too angled inwards.. But in the end, in 2009, I picked the VL800 - the power, the comfort & the looks - for a very good price - were a no brainer for me. Ride hard & ride safe.

It's a great motorbike. Great comfortable chopper. I have 2008 Intruder c800 and I love it. I bought it 6 months ago and it's a monster. Everybody think that it's a Harley :) I bought it second hand for 4300 Dollars. But people think it's around 20.000 dollars :))

I have this great bike, the only criticism is, it has a sight glass for the oil (no dip stick) and no main stand, only a kick stand. So you need a buddy to help you out, or the semi risky task of leveling the side kick stand, while down on your knees looking at the oil level.
