Suspect & Conquer | BLAME GAME Precon Review & Upgrade

Ойындар

Let's play the Blame Game with Nelly Borca, Impulsive Accuser to try and find out who murked Prime Speaker Zegana. Or at least make sure no one suspects Aurelia.
This precon is heavy on the GOAD, making your opponents swing at each other with reckless abandon. Toss in a little pillow fort and watch from your soft luxurious fortress as your suspects take each other out.

I absolutely adore this deck’s themes but I was wondering what exactly you would do to strategize having enough firepower once the game gets down to one on one besides that single enchantment.

Since I have a goad deck (Baeloth/Noble Heritage) that's taken a lot from Blame Game, my other immediate if pricey wincon for 1v1 is having Insurrection on deck along with a couple of flying beaters to help (in Ancient Copper and Ancient Gold). Either they're beaten up enough that one turnaround can finish the game, or they have such a board advantage on you that they basically kill themselves once Insurrection drops.

The deck is trying to win through either combat damage or a Brash Taunter combo. "Suspected" status makes the enemy creatures unable to block, so you could use damage doublers (like Fiendish Duo, Gisela) or double strike enablers (Spectacular Showdown, Duelist's Heritage) to beat the shit out of your opponent with your beefy guys like Sun Titan, Hellkite, Anya or Kazuul (but you need to ramp like crazy to get them out in time). Brash Taunter and Boros Reckoner are cards that can deal a shiton of damage to the opponent if you first deal damage to them. You should remove Mob Verdict (which is funny but crap) and add Blasphemous Act. Blasphemous Act on a Taunter or Reckoner is 13 damage to face, if they are both in play is 26 damage and with a doubler like Fiendish Duo/Gisela is 52 damage, one-shoting someone. You can remove the Vow auras (which are useless 90% of the time) and add some more damage boosters like Torbran or Gratuitous Violence (your creatures 2x damage) to boost both ways to win.

Fiendish Duo is fine and fits in the deck but kinda annoying that it literally took ~ 1/4 of deck reprint value for a card that costs 1 mana less but only does 1/4 of the work that Gisela, Blade of Goldnight does. Blame Game is the deck I bought and it will be fun, but two of the other decks got better staples and much better reprints.

You forgot to mention that Feather can target ANY creature the spell could target. So debuffing Feather can have you debuff just as many other creatures you can by paying 2 mana for each.

This makes Feather really an advocate for this deck!

I feel like War’s Toll is painting too much of a target on our backs, or slows the game down too much. It also has a lot of “feels bad” to me.

Players will have access to all their mana, albeit all at once, as they can tap in response to the trigger. For that reason and that you’ll be goading stuff to make everyone attack with everything, I’m not sure I agree that it’ll slow games down. I do agree about the “feels bad” and the need to consider who is in the pod when choosing to include in the 99 to reduce salt and make sure these levels of threats can be found everywhere so that target you talked about isn’t painted so bright.

@@mtgmonkeys I’m going to say you have a lot more experience, so perhaps I’ll “sideboard a copy (once purchased) outside the 99”. I don’t consistently play with any pods as my ability to play is infrequent due to work and fatherhood, so I don’t have a sense of a pod beforehand.

Most important thing is to have fun and leaving that card out probably ups your chances in that case. Wishing you all the best with fatherhood 👑
