It’s fascinating that so many brilliant actors seemed to get into it through almost complete happenstance. I can’t believe she’s 75!!! That’s wild. She looks early 50’s at most

The restaurant scenes, the crying stars with Ed then with sobbing with Julia.
Her natural aire of authenticity really bleeds through in to her performances. Her roles always feel so real, human... even the 'good' characters were always lightly flawed. What a presence.
The ending of Thelma and Louise was so beautiful, it’s wild to think she really created some of the most beautiful parts of the movie. The beauty in that movie is it’s realism
I wish this had been longer. There are so many more Susan Sarandon films I want her to discuss, like Bull Durham and Atlantic City. And also, I think Thelma & Louise is one of the best movies ever made. That finale gets me every time.

The best Little Women EVER!! The casting of all parts was perfect and Sarandon’s warmth and maternal love infused the whole story, even when she wasn’t in the scene. I don’t understand why they’re still remaking it when this one exists.

Well, the 1994 "Little Women" wasn't the first "Little Women" movie, either. There already had been movies in 1933 and 1949, two British silent movies in 1918 and 1919, a tv special in 1978 and even a Japanese anime series in 1987.

I really liked the most recent version, although the 90s one was the one I grew up with. I think they both have their strengths and there's room for all the adaptations, because they show us something about themselves and the world/time they were made in, even if they don't do anything especially different with the material.

@@TheAmarok87 I know. I’ve been a movie buff since the 1970s, and I worked in a video store in the 1990s where I had a coterie of customers who would watch everything I put on my recommendation shelf-even if they didn’t always like my choices; and I’ve seen all the others. This wasn’t an uninformed post, it’s my honest assessment of the casting, directing, performances, and chemistry, based on my love for the story, which I read so many times as a little girl. Susan Sarandon a legend. She was very good in Stepmom and cunning in Enchanted .
You can tell she doesn't feel any need to ingratiate herself. She's honest because she's free. I love that about her.
I find Susan Sarandon completely fascinating. She thinks deeply about things and clearly makes up her own mind without being pushed one way or the other by people. I would love to just sit and have a conversation with her.
Would have loved to hear of her experience on The Hunger. Tony Scott! Catherine Deneuve! AND David Bowie! That is stellar.

I like that she is honest about the industry. Most actors get in because of their connections, other talented people don't stand a chance, others get there sort of accidentally and others will never have the money to develop the skills required (dancing, singing, acting lessons, socializing with the right people), the way contracts can be used to pin people to the job.
I really adore Susan, she's such a versatile actress. I love how her daughter Eva Amurri appeared in some of her projects, such as her daughter in "The Banger Sisters" and her younger self in "That's my Boy."

Thelma & Louise is such a masterpiece.
Such a class act. As an ex actress myself, the fact that she didn't really try to have this career is maddening. I am glad she found it. We are all better by watching her on screen. 💚
I just love her. So much of what she said feels like such a read. She burned down the library with: "Maybe because I wasn't desperate. Epic.

She’s the most self aware actress I think I’ve ever seen. Really interesting
Susan's reaction to "Stepmom" hit me like a truck. I had the first 20 years of my life with my Mom and "Step" Mom before my biological Mom passed away. I watched "Stepmom" as a kid and remember being amused by the moms feuding, but then of course I was able to appreciate the film on a whole other level after my Mom passed. Now I'm 35 and it's still one my and my "step" Mom's favorite movies.
My mom was diagnosed with cancer in 2002 and Stepmom was our favorite movie. We have watched the movie together so many times until her death...20 years later everytime I miss her, I plug my old VCR and watch it all over again!
This was so wonderful to watch. Susan Sarandon is a legend and her artistry just emanates empathy.
Stepmom will always be one of her most and best well known movies I feel. It’s such a touching and powerful movie it has such a warm feeling the whole movie, It will always be one of my favorite all time movies her and Julia Roberts will always be iconic acting together❤️
She is so real. I kept giggling at her swearing and calling the Nutty Professor the most political movie. I love her.

i am shocked they didn't talk about Bull Durham, one of my favorite movies and a stellar performance by her
I watched a lot of her films on HBO when I was young, and they all left a great impression on my memory. Her acting is so great, she's really a good actor.
I was moved to tears when she explained her process for StepMom, as she welled up with tears. This movie resonated with me, not because me or my Stepdaughter's Mom were terminally ill, but because of the early struggles we went through. I met my Stepdaughter when she was 3, she is now 30 with a child of her own. Her Mom and I get along so well now, we compliment each other (she is my Daughter's StepMom, as when my marriage dissolved. They got back together). It took years, lots of upside and downs & disconnects. But we are a true family, she is a surrogate StepMom to my Son (different Dad), and I consider her other children as my Step children. As we say our Family is "7 kids, 4 Dad's & 3 Mom's" it blows some people's minds. But this movie when I first saw it taught me so very much about how to become one family, united. Thank you for that
I wish this was longer, you can feel she is just very authentic and has some great movies under her belt.

Stepmom w/ Julia was probably her best movie...because it was the most raw and emotionally real movie of the bunch. Even re-watching it again years later? It's still a tear-jerker that simply packs a punch.

THANK YOU for including Stepmom. I cannot begin to explain what this movie means to me after having lost my mom at the age of 30 (pretty late in comparison, but still). And the fact that she is moved to this day by the story. Her talking about it was everything I had hoped it would be.
