Surviving with a GIRL Underground! | NO Food, NO Water, NO Shelter Challenge

Ойын-сауық

Courtney and me dig a pit or dirt shelter next to a creek and try to survive 24 hours overnight in the Northern wilderness with no food, water or shelter. My Gear (Shop and Support): www.thewoodedbeardsman.com/shop/
We bring with us a Zach Fowler survival shovel, a collapsible fishing rod, hooks and sinkers, and dig up live bait to catch survival food along the natural spring fed creek.
The shelter is dug down about 3-4 feet, and then lined with comfortable moss, then covered over top with evergreen branches to protect from the rain, and biting insects. To dig a pit shelter, it is imperative to find soil that is easy to dig and is relatively free of roots.

*DO YOU KNOW ANYONE that has a mini-RV or VAN LIFE, SPRINTER VAN CONVERSION COMPANY (I can't tow right now, just have a car)? --- CONNECT ME TO THEM! Perhaps my mid-life crisis is brewing and I need to hit the road for some epic VAN LIFE ADVENTURES!!*

This could means some epic cross promotion for any company that wants to partner up (sorry can't pull anything, don't own a truck - really liking the sprinter van idea though). We could travel all over the place and connect with some epic adventures and promote any company that will work with us. Please let me know if you know anyone. I'm thinking small, sprinter vans, van life, etc. I don't want any full size old man RV or anything and it's got to be super road worthy for mileage!

After 4 orthopedic surgeries and diagnosis of arthritis I refuse to allow this to limit my activity. I'm a bit older than you so I take it slower and make sure I have appropriate orthopedic support but still climb, hike, primitive camp, and live life without limitations. Ankle, knee, back brace, and good hiking boots are necessary but worth the "inconvenience" to maintain the lifestyle I love. Don't limit yourself.

The last few minutes of this video are worth the price of admission. It really is all about passing the torch onto todays boys; a seemingly disproportional amount of our time ought to be dedicated to this goal. Notice how the boys responded enthusiastically to the challenge and produced a stellar result. Well done boys!

I like to go camping for a week or two by myself once in a while in the deep woods just north of Algonquin Park, up around Matawa, and I can confirm that "bushwhacking" through that is just no fun at all. I love old growth forest with its massive canopy and carpet of leaves, and I'll even take the mossy wonderland of something like the rainforest of Golden Ears over the wall of greenery you find in northern Ontario. It's the relentlessness of it, the way branches are always pressing into your shins, and whippy green stems wrapping around your ankles so that every single step becomes a struggle and requires conscious effort. You can never just turn your brain off and enjoy the wilderness when hiking through northern Ontario. It's like everything is specifically designed to be hostile to humans, from the deerflies to the undergrowth to the massive stands of poison ivy. That being said, you won't find wilderness like this, completely absent of any human touch, anywhere else in the country. You can walk for days in this stuff and never find so much as an old, rusty soda can or a mouldering plastic bag. It's just you, the angry red squirrels, and twice your weight in blackflies.

Hogweed has a reddish hue, kinda like rhubarb stalks. Waxy looking. Anne's lace is a green stalk, solid green. Plus, hogweed grows very tall. Easily 6 ft. Originally it was an ornamental plant from India and then people brought it into their gardens in America. Great idea guys. You have to chop it down in winter, black plasic, dirt,do no disturb for about 10 years. I had no idea what hogweed was until my mother called me up and said," could you come over and look at these flowers are in the backyard of my house?" Yeah... toxic. Very toxic. The oil breaks down your skins natural defense to the sun. People end up having to wear gloves in the sun for YEARS. Not good. You guys are awesome by the way😁😁

As a ham radio operator, it would be a blast to combine one of your survival challenges with a "field day" remote experience! "Survival on the Air"? I saw a video from a guy who did VotA (VOLCANOES on the Air!!) by climbing Mt. Adams and making 2-meter contacts all over Washington and Oregon!

W.B. Dude, please for everyone who watches and loves your channel take good care of that knee man. I've got a bad knee and I'm 26. It's not something to take lightly. I'm looking forward to the evolution of the Wooded Beardsman!

Good combined efforts towards survival guys...Courtney did outstanding job by digging the shelter...fir the talk Courtney, you can talk about your personal experience during these adventures and how do you really feel after finding out your real potential doing tough tasks...well done guys...but the food knowledge must be revised...by getting to know plants...which you can easily do by reading locally available books.

You and Courtney need to do one of these trips together with no camera. Except maybe for photos for yourselves. Idk maybe you two already have.
