    Next summer build a tilting mechanism for the solar panels so snow comes off easier and they are at a better angle for the low winter sun.

    You could also think about semi permanent scaffolding instead of a little step ladder for safety when your removing snow from the roof during winter. And during summer you can make a chill out deck of the scaffolding.

    Your Starlink app has a sleep mode. You can use this to save some energy. If you pull regular all nighters it may not be the best option for you. The Starlink snow melting feature also uses considerable energy to heat the disk and keep in clean of snow. This can be disabled if you want. These measures can always be avoided by putting your Starlink in stow, unplugging your Starlink from power, and putting the provided cover over it. The convenience of having internet on a whim is lost with this, but you can save power. I have 630 AH s of storage and regularly stow and un-power my Starlink.

    My two PITTYS and I were at a friend's in my Shasta trailer few years ago. I put the girls in for a bit during a garage sale. I came in to check and Stella Bella my older got my favorite purple velvet down stuffed lap blanket. Feathers everywhere‼️ It was breezy too that day and when I opened the door feathers came out to blow down the street. She was mad and would let me know because she was my social girl.

    Time to convert your Starlink to DCV. I did it for my van and it was a game changer. I hardly ever turn on my inverter. BTW, welcome to northern New England. Here's hoping we don't end up with 140+ inches of snow this year.

    Jarrod, in the Spring / Summer, if you want to, you can install a "ring doorbell" which has a built in camera so you won't have to make a peep hole when someone rings the bell. Just something to think about.

    Glacier was so funny in the snow, she’s so playful and happy. I’m glad you have her for company. It’s beautiful where you are and Maine air smells incredible. Most of what you say about power sources goes over my head. The thought that I might have to live off-grid one day because of necessity is terrifying. At present, I’m not organized or disciplined enough. Watching you, enjoying off-grid living is comforting though, so I’ll keep checking in. 😊

    Could you do a similar thing with your solar panels that Kirby did on the groovy van? Adjusting the height on one side as needed, you probs wouldnt need to climb a ladder and maybe it could help with sun’s angle? Idk, you’re the expert. 😏 Love the vlogs tho! Hope u and Glacier girl are staying warm.

    You can add some heat brand diesel additive to your diesel tank to help prevent jelling of the fuel . A plus is it also helps remove water from the fuelthat develops due to condensation.

  • @367scotty
    @367scotty4 ай бұрын

    What heater did you use for your radiant floors and water ? pump ? Diesel gels at 10-15 degrees, Snow weight wont hurt your panels. 200 lbs. but snows weight is distributed . Funny it looks like north idaho .

    Since your THOW is now in its psuedo "permanent location" consider modifying the angle of your solar panels. 1. To optimise solar gain (a.k.a. max output) & 2. to shed snow. Your so far north that I suspect your panels are too "flat" for max output

  • @JarrodTocci

    @JarrodTocci

    4 ай бұрын

    Maybe but who said it’s permanent 😉 and I’d rather build a solar array to add to it and angled better. My charge controller can handle 6000 watts and I only have 3000 on my roof
