    I've been watching the channel for a few years now and I have to say that it makes me very happy to see how much of a positive impact this whole deal has had on Sierra's confidence level. She used to be so very camera shy and slowly over the years has totally come out of her shell (pun intended.) I can only imagine that the growth of the channel and seeing how much it impacts people has positively changed the way she feels about herself 'off camera' too. All of this to say - Billy... Good job! You started this thing and I bet it took a lot if patience and understanding to coax Sierra into playing a more inclusive role in the videos. You're a good person (and a great husband) for that reason and the two of you deserve every good thing that's happening to you. Congrats.

    I’ve been subscribed for awhile but just started watching your You Tube channel recently. I’m a 70 yr old married (wife born on Key Biscayne) guy born in Miami. So we’re both old salts! Got the skin cancer to prove it! It swells my heart watching your videos! Watching two young people who care so much about life. It’s so refreshing to see that you honestly care about other people, land, animals and the life around you! Love your videos! And by the way - make sure the 1160 or 1260 has A/C and heat! You’ll be glad you have it when you expand your family!

    I have spent many years sailing in the San Juan‘s. I have even dove for crabs at Spencer spit. A little tip on cooking crabs as while they’re still alive pull their back off, clean them, break them in half and then cook them. it takes less time and less water. Dungeness in my opinion is the best. Love your videos.

    To clean before cooking,, grab legs from behind, smash bottom side down against bucket edge, top will come off, shake out guts from leg halves overboard, keep tops until you get back to dock in case you need to prove catch sizes. Best if re-chlled and eaten cold. (IMO)

    How wonderful you got to experience the PNW and the San Juan Islands. When I sailed on the Schooner Adventures, all the students had to jump in and tread water for 10 minutes so they would know what to expect if they fell off the ship into that chilly water. No warm shower after... :)

    When you add vinegar to the water Acetic acid breaks down proteins It also helps soften the shell of the crab. The acid in vinegar also helps bring out the flavor in other ingredients. Whenever you're cooking something and you know you've added herbs, spices, ect and you're still lacking flavor your dish is missing acid like that in vinegar, lemons, or wine.

    Lmao when you jumped in. We swam in the summer and that was cold enough. I fell in the Fraser river in front of my place in February and mofo, that was absolutely frigid. If you guys come back you have to have a oyster cook on a beach fire. You get the oysters at low tide and then set them around the edge of the fire till they pop open. Then butter and salt, damn, my mouths watering Lol.

    Great video, and that mountain with a snowcap looks so nice - exotic of us 😁 Doesn’t look like those crabs would keep you alive for long - you need as much chicken to get them and all the equipment. But I’m sure it tastes so much better 🦀 Greetings from Seychelles 🇸🇨 👋

  • @f33rnofish
    @f33rnofish2 жыл бұрын

    So chicken is great, fish heads are awesome, but try canned cat or dog food. It stores forever, they come in cans and the crab can’t actually get into the bait so it lasts a long time and it’s very oily so the scent travels very well. Just poke holes on top of the can and put into the bait bag. You’re welcome 👌🏼

  • @deanforbes2027

    @deanforbes2027

    I totally agree with this! I've also used canned tuna (cheaper), but make sure you get 'packed in water' type. The oil type just sends the flavor upwards as the oil floats in water and doesn't attract as well. One can lasts all weekend in the water.

    easier way to clean and cook is pull the male designator "tab" up and back like a pull tab, then you can grab and lift the entire top plate off separating the two leg sections with the lungs attached. Hold the bunch of legs like a hammer and swing down hard over the water. (do this entire process off your swim platform) The lungs will for the most part fly off. Throw all the guts into the water. The cleaned legs cook so much better, and you avoid all of the mustard, lungs and crap on your dinner table.

It has been my experience, at our local beach nearby anyway, that in the shallower waters (20-ish feet) there is more females than males. Out in the 40-50' foot waters there are more males than females. Not exactly sure why this is, just an observation. Keep up the great work!
