Surviving D-Day!

On June 6, 1944, the biggest amphibious invasion in the history of the world took place. This is the story of a medic who saved many lives in this historic day.
We’ve all seen, some of us may have even heard from our parents or grandparents, stories about D-Day, and World War II in general. The Allies went to great lengths to prevent the Nazis from learning their real plan, from detailed planning, to sneaky decoy bases to take attention off the real attack. But, the fortifications at Normandy were still formidable.
For this video, we wanted to show another side of the Normandy invasions- that of the medic. We drew inspiration from the real life stories of medics who landed with the rest of the invasion force on D-Day. One such medic was Ray Lambert, who was on Omaha Beach on D-Day. He passed on last year at his home in North Carolina, age 100. Our hats off to Ray and everyone else who fought in the great wars of the twentieth century.
You can hear more of his story in this interview: • D-Day First Wave Medic...

@@sfsovietstudios oh, d day was a joke? A fucking joke? So the people who lost their lives and got severely injured and have PTSD from the battle and are traumatized, so the families who lost loved ones and became depressed, so the innocent people who lost their LIVES fighting for their country is just a joke? It's all a joke? Are you serious? That's like saying the war in Ukraine is a joke because Russians lost more in world War two. I don't think you even realize that NO battle is just a "joke". People lose their lives fighting for us, and they are a joke, right? Yeah, some battles are worse than others, but that doesn't mean the others should be taken as a "joke" and they shouldn't be forgotten. We cannot forget history, because people lost loved ones, people lost lives. And NONE of that is a joke.

Fun Fact: Alot of the soldiers who landed on Omaha beach were fairly new and most have never even seen combat before. They were also expecting the Air Force and Navy to have done most of the heavy lifting in eliminating the German defenses. As such they were expecting an easy landing and were singing , joking, and having a great time until German gunfire and artillery silenced the mood

Much appreciation and love, my friend. My grandfather was a part of the D-Day landings, and much like many of his comrades in arms, there were hardly any stories told of it at his knee. There were stories and anecdotes of later days, liberation of villages, adoration from oppressed peoples, etc. This one, while being both funny and eye-opening, nether the less brought a tear to my eye in honor of the "Greatest Generation." We stil have much to learn from thos who still remain.

Ok nice how you didn’t dehumanize the Germans, thank you for that most German troops were disillusioned by propaganda, so didn’t understand what they were fighting for, so thank you for not giving them the hate they never deserved. Also as a historian slight comment for the future, actually all soldiers who charged up the beach or even were head to toes on solid ground died in the early hours of the morning, the soldiers actually lay and wait in the water all day long advancing with the tide to give the shortest dash to the bunker line, also the bunkers were not so exposed, they were actually very well hidden and at some points it was impossible to know if the bunkers were even there! But except for my criticism, overall great video very enjoyable and thanks for getting Field Marshal Montgomery’s beret correct.

Honestly when you put the entire battle for Omaha into a more emotional perspective it turns into a emotional train wreck, idk how but the one ball who was crying in the middle of the battle field hit hardest even though it was a joke cuz balls can’t have legs. Even the facial expressions from the Nazis were included as well, by far one of the saddest and bloodiest battles so just imagine how the deceased soldiers families felt, so many tiny little ball hearts broken 😢
