Me too! She isn't too happy about me packing her down the ladder, but much better with going up the ladder and she isn't lite either. Was 30F last night in the cabin loft so I am sure it was much colder on the floor. So glad I got them away from the floor.

Well we had until now a pause on winter hopeing we dont have a pause on spring. Winter is a difficult time toget stuff done.

This is my first time in this cold of temps, let alone building for it. I will be adding insulation under the floor before the next winter.

Gorgeous video - I’m so sad I can’t be in the snow. I hope you fared ok last night in the cold. The app says with the wind chill at 7am it was -47. That’s not a typo!

Yes we did good, you wouldn't have been able to stay warm enough in the hunters tent with a wood stove I bet. It got real windy last night. The dogs can only handle 3 minutes before there feet get so cold they start to limp. They need to learn durring these times to go get there business done and get back to warmth. My floors are freezing cold so we are staying in the loft as long as it's like this.

-57 here with the windchill in Saskatchewan! My dog has figured out that she needs to do her business and get back in! Thank goodness!

MY dogs haven't figured it out completely yet so I have to stand outside watching over them until they understand not to roam to far from the cabin to do thier business.

Looking good so far Al. I woke up to -18°F this morning was wondering if you are warmer on your side with the tree cover.

I need to move my temp gauge away from my window for a more accurate reading I think it is picking up some heat transfer from the cabin. -18F is getting cold, around 2:30 AM I checked it and it showed -15F here, so I bet you got down to -30F at some point. They are talking -40 Saturday.

What a life! You're really doing it in style Al, baking bread etc. Is there a way to get under that deck floor and fit some rigid insulation in? Or staple in some of that reflectix bubble stuff?

Yes I will be going underneath the cabin this year before next winter and insulating it. I also have a 55 gallon drum of water under the cabin I need to insulate. There is about 4 feet of space under the cabin all framed in.

@@offgridal Great. Also, if you're going to replace the door jams anyway, could you just tack something on the inner edge for now? Stips of towel, strips of reflectix or something? Just to stop any drafts? I know in our old house here, it's all about stopping drafts. If any cold air is just blowing in, then all bets are off. Maybe on the inside of the skirts of the deck if you put some of that tyvec it might stop drafts underneath? Just brainstorming...

Great suggestions I have two blankets over the door that seem to be helping for now, but I also have more house wrap left to work on a couple of areas that are drafty for sure.

Sitting here with my aircon on, I'm sorry for this heat lovin granny sitting this side of the screen is as close as I want to be to that cold :D And no matter how hard I try I just can't see the beauty to me it is just white and bland :( I know.... I know I am a miserable whinging Granny :D

Your funny Shelly, by the way it hit -15 F Degrees overnight. I had to put the dogs in the loft with me. The dogs water bowl on the floor by the fire was frozen solid.🤧

@@offgridal I was just watching a weather prediction for you that says you are going to have 1-2 weeks of absolutely freezing weather. Freezing way below normal temps so please try and fill all the gaps etc to keep yourself warmer.

Thanks Shelly, I am toasty right now in the loft with my dogs, I'm not to sure how -40F is going to be in here. I really need to insulate the floor, but that won't happen soon enough.🤧🥶❄🌧☃
