On Day 2 of this survival adventure I crawled out of my primitive survival shelter and collected simple foods to eat near camp. After breakfast I ventured out to explore up the canyon towards the mountain peak to see what I might find. I found a few more food items that required no preparation and climbed one of the rocky peaks. I made a digging stick, started a few fires using cattail fluff, made a shadow stick compass to show directions, and heated rocks in the fire to keep me warm at night. The following morning I enjoyed the beautiful surroundings and prepared to hike out of the mountains.

This is by far my favorite survival channel to watch. I am writing a book that features a village that lives off of the land. This helps me visualize some of the scenes I need to write, including collecting wild edibles. Also, I really enjoy the aesthetic of your film making. I know you were an actor. I am super glad you chose this route instead. You seem happy as hell. BTW, I am glad to see you fixed the hole in your shorts situation. I am loving the loincloth.

Thanks a lot! I wish you success with your book. I pursued acting years ago but never earned enough to sustain life! I always loved nature and sharing my experiences in the wild so this was the natural path for me to take. It was just a difficult transition to get to do this. But yes, I love it!

Finally someone actually with the nature! Most bush-craft people make a place for themselves, even for a single night, that looks more comfortable than in many a home. The terrain is just fantastic! Why not nap in the hot time of day and have more energy for other times? If the sun is strong enough, covering a flat large rock before sunset with even a thin piece of material trap the heat for some hours - good if there is no fire. Enjoyed!

@@ChadZuberAdventures I used to follow the sound of frogs at night. They will lead you to a wet spot, if not an outright pool. When you are at water, one thing I did was see if there was something like a rock or tree shading it past the summer solstice, around us that's about 68 degrees at noon, and 30 degrees North of due East and due West at dawn and dusk IIRC. Make that plane with your hand in the sky, the more things you "strike" with your hand, the more likely water will be there in extremes. Helpful in open areas especially, where water isn't obvious even when it is abundant. Worked for me. Keep going, Brother! Vaya con Dios.- Mike in Coronado
