Primitive Arrow Making Tutorial

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

The bow and arrow was an essential tool used by primitive humans for hunting and war since prehistoric times. The tradition of arrow making was passed and improved on from one generation to the next but today the skill and art of making bows and arrows is mostly lost. In this video, my caveman friend Ziko meets up with me in the desert for a tutorial on how to make simple arrows and then we practice shooting those arrows at a Mojave yucca target.
Watch till the end to see the bloopers!

    This art of bow and arrow making is really interesting to me. I have a lot more to learn and practice. It will only get better. El arte de hacer arco y flechas me interesa mucho. Me hace falta mucho aprendizaje y práctica. De aquí en adelante solo va a mejorar.

    Chad Zuber Great video explaining bow and arrow making. I like your style of videography to give the feeling of isolation and studying the environment for things to use for survival and the elements of nature, my only ask is that you use some variations in the atmos of bird sounds, raven or crow sounds seem to be your favourite, but become noticeable, maybe research bird sounds for the local area. I enjoy what you are doing, it is really captivating, once you start you have to see how it ends, well done! Love the close ups and distance shot of the arrow was really cool! Thanks for the blooper reel at the end 😂👍 very enjoyable video!

    What’s the fourth wall

  • @netyr4554

    @netyr4554

    2 жыл бұрын

    The fourth wall is an imaginary barrier between the characters of a production and anything outside of the scene, if the character interacts with an audience member or camera/crew they're breaking the fourth wall. Chad (the character) can speak to Ziko because he is also a character in the scene, he cannot speak to us. In Chad's more recent videos he often narrates over the video, this doesn't break the fourth wall as the narrator is outside of the scene, aka the narrator is on our side of the wall.

I bring them back home, leave them to dry for 2 days(bark on) after that I straighten them using my hand, while they are still green(bark on) after one week of doing that, I debark them and start attaching the feathers and making the points :)

Out there in nature, living of the lands. Technology is okay, but it shouldnt interfere with nature in a way that isn’t organic. I wanna see organic houses in the landscape, people wandering and playing in the tall grass and trees. developing a new world with values guided by the human heart. Not by greed of the mind. But an integration with nature and love for our self and others. Love your videos 👍🏻💪🏻✨❤️

I used to make lots of bows with my friends, although ours sucked lol, the bowstring was just vine that we found lol, only one of our bows ever really worked 😝. And wow as I’m watching the cinematography is really good might I add. It never ceases to surprise me. I wish my films would have such good cinematography, even my film I just released yesterday visually stands no chance. so just something i've been wondering, do you live out here ? because if you do i dont know why you would be making videos for youtube for any other reason than just pure helpful advice . And if thats the reason well god bless ya man. this is an epic way of living and a way i would like to try way in the future about 10 years from now when I've accomplished my goals. this way of living ' if you have the know how" seems so peaceful .

    If you have trouble keeping the arrow nock on the string try the Indian style pinch grip, the nock is pinched between the thumb and side of the index finger, the index finger tip pulls on the string (use middle and ring fingers also if the bow is too heavy to draw with just index and thumb). This method can also be used with nockless arrows.

    Hey, thanks for the tip! I'm a total beginner at this. These were some of my first arrows. I will keep in mind the nockless technique too.

    I build my cane arrows the same way ,try reinforcing your nock and forshaft joint using the yucca thread and glue , it makes them very durable and strong.
