    The potting compound (probably PU) looks similarly tough to stuff we have at work. We had succes with Dichloromethane to soften it. Another note is that we put a layer of silicone RTV over all SMD components to protect them from the potting. This potting gets under the chips and might break the solder joints with heating and cooling due to the different coefficients of expansion.

    This stuff is pretty grainy. I don't think it can get under a part soldered to the board. In between legs on IC's is about it. It might be able to lift them as you describe? I have to admit, I don't have any Dichloromethane. And how awesome...some other nasty chemical to keep around!

    I've been wanting to buy an ultra bee but heard of a couple of these stock controllers burning out/failing. each person that had this problem were using stock power...some say it was cause it was direct from china, but the OP chimed in saying it was officially bought from a dealer stateside. all that being said, I do wonder what is leading to these controllers breaking. Some have gone to aftermarket controllers after the fail, some have bought new stock ones from their local parts dealer. I became aware of this from a video here on youtube where someone was riding it, had turned the bike to full power with traction control and it soon failed afterwards. I'm wondering why this happened, or if it was just a coincidence that it failed under load. Some people say there's a break in period, but i find that hard to chalk up the failure to. I also read in a reddit post that it failed randomly on someone who was riding it without said TC on. What could be causing this?? Is it a design flaw inherit to these stock controllers or is it a more pervasive problem with the surron ultra bee itself? This would totally sway my decision as to whether or not I buy an Ultra Bee.     Right on thanks for the reply! I suppose my last thought would be, from what you know about the anatomy of these controllers, do you think said overheating issue as a plausibility?

    @@tabryis Sure...it's possible. Maybe a batch of the controllers got set up wrong by Surron? That would do it.

    So a 22s and 24s battery can be a plug and play with more power. Thats if the controller has not got voltage fold back parameters on the software

    True...and we don't that...or I don't know that. It would be a setting in the controller and if they have set max voltage to something like 84v, then it's probably going to disable when you apply more voltage than that. I'm NOT fond of solutions like this where you can't make setting changes and the manufacturer keeps the config app hidden from the public. I get it, they want total control over their controllers and they don't want to hassle with support issues from people making setting changes. Instead what happens is people rapidly abandon their factory controllers for something they can confrere! Duh!

    What would be the peak volts and amps on this board trying to see instead of buying a new board I can flash the one I have now

    Not sure I can’t find anything on manuals was hope you might have a clue is there a way of know without testing everything

    Ultra bee is 85v fully charged. Not whatever you said.

    I said 100v or 28S. 85v is an odd value. If we assume a 20S NMC pack, that's 4.25v per cell which is quite bad as it is over charging NMC a lot. 21S which is an odd series count is 4.04v per cell. If the pack is made from LFP then 23S is 3.69v per cell...which is an odd cell count and over charges LFP a little.. 24S of LFP is 3.54v per cell. At least the cell series count isn't odd and staying a little under voltage isn't a bad idea. So I have to ask...are you sure about that 85v? It doesn't seem very likely. I'm not saying you are wrong, just the cell counts and voltages don't work out like I'd expect.

    This screams fardriver. which would explain why they used that pain in the ass potting....

    This isn't Far Driver, not even close and FD uses flexible potting that is easy to remove. This power stage is rather similar to the 96850, but there is plenty of differences too.

    @@de-bodgery oh i didnt mean its a rebadged fardriver. i just knew that fardriver works with oem's and makes quite a few controllers sold under different names, and didnt think it was too far fetched that they might request a different potting compound if this were true. the case, power stage, hell even the label just looked fardriver-esque to me. Any idea who does make these?

    @@ganzeytyler FD uses the STM32F103 CPU. I think if they were doing work for Surron, they would use that CPU in the controller. FD only uses 2 current sensors and this controller has a lot of other details that FD doesn't do that I've ever seen. I would be really surprised if FD did any of this controller work.
