At the very beginning of this video, it says that Tom Cruise is paying child support. So she doesn't have to be reminded of a "deadbeat dad." However, he has been an *absent* dad for 11 years now. It's due to Scientology, in some way. I can see how she wouldn't want to retain having his last name. EDIT: I think Suri's dad has been absent for 11 years now, not absent since she was 11.

What a strange way to word what has happened: "Suri Distances Herself Further From Her Dad." Tom Cruise was the one who stopped seeing his daughter. Because of his allegiance to Scientology and its leader, David Miscavige, he chose to not see his daughter. She had no choice. Of course, every child wants a loving and involved parent!

Because our father was a POS that didn't pay child support and he decided his son would not go through what we went through. When you make children, no matter how old they are, you are responsible for them. Period.

Suri isn't his only child. He and ex-wife Nicole Kidman adopted two children, Conner and Isabella. It's sad that he has no relationship with Suri but she seems like a grounded young woman so props to Katie Holmes in raising her well. I believe Conner and Isabella have contact with him but are estranged from Nicole which is sad.

My speculation is that Katie refused to let her daughter be squirreled away like other Scientology kids and fought to keep her. The deal (again, my speculation…), Katie keeps quiet about Tom, Scientology & their practices…Katie & Suri get their freedom. Way to go Katie!!
