    Great review. I had high hopes for the SLS2, but after numerous so-so reviews I decided to go with an ASUS ProArt 16 OLED. I do some occasional video editing and wanted the extra horsepower to speed up the render times. To my surprise, it was slower than the laptop it replaced (HP Envy) plus some other screen issues so it ended up being returned. Curious if you have or are working on a Surface Laptop 6 review. Thanks!

    This year I will buy a surface. I have a iPad Pro since since 2020 but I would rather windows explorer to manage files and play some game I can’t have on PS5. I waited for the surface pro 10 with core 7 just for better gaming capacities. But if as you said, core 5 will be good enough. I hoped we get core 7 165H but we have only U.s version, off course for mobility. windows eat Rams as pancake, so the best is to take the 32Go to be futurproof for AI. I checked how to swipe the SSD, not very difficult and way cheaper to get 1To. Thanks for benchmarks.

    I think those who hope that the consumers version of the SP10 will be cheaper than the business version will be very disappointed. Qualcomm is apparently pricing the chips in line with core ultra 7 so expect the same price and if the add OLED I wouldn't be surprised if the device is even more expensive than the business one.

    Concerning Windows on Arm and Snapdragon, I think the main "criticism" from some viewers, including me, is that you are criticising it from a gaming perspective (which is admittedly often the main focus of the channel). I have no doubut that the Snapdragon will be worse at gaming than Intel, but this does not make it a worse device for the intended users. Surface devices are not intended for gamers, but are ultrabooks with tablet capabilities. Battery life, quiet operation, a device that remains cool to the touch, speakers, and CPU performance are more important than GPU performance or than compatibility with games for most users. The main issues I see with Windows on arm is compatibility with some, non standard, drivers. That will probabily be the tradeoff (hopefully things will get bette with time) for a device that does not get hot under load, is silent and has longer battery life that its intel counterpart

  • @GianniLeonhart

    @GianniLeonhart

    Ай бұрын

    Why do you think it wont get hot under load? or that it won't have fans? or that the battery will be that much better? That's the thing "snapdragon enthusiast" do not get, right now all we have is Qualcomm's cherry-picked benchmarks and claims with fifteen asterisk for clarification, and the promise from both MSFT and QCOM that "WoA wil will be fine on release, just trust us and buy" Never buy promises, never buy hype, ever. If you want to be early adopter that's fine, but you shouldn't ignore the fact that all the information we have about those chips is just marketing bs rn We will have real data once the ARM version of the SP10 get fair and independent reviews, until then is all nothing but marketing

  • @_Digitalguy

    @_Digitalguy

    Ай бұрын

    @@GianniLeonhart Don't worry about me, I won't buy any promise, I'll wait for reviews from trusted reviewers, not from gaming focused reviewers, which are way too many on youtube and will problably hate the device as it won't be able to game as Intel and AMD, or from Apple fanboys which will be saying that M3 is better at this or that and that M4 is coming anyway, but from people who are interested in productivty, and in that I definitely don't include video editing, but normal business productivtity and also use as tablets for entertainement. If the device is comparable to M1/2/3 in terms of heat, silent operation and battery life, I'll be more than happy to get one the replace some of my current devices, including tablets...I am no Snapdragon enthusiast, but I do prefer Windows to iPadOS, Android and MacOS, but X86 has been the weak point for those of us who need a business device and not a workstation or gaming device and who don't want MacOS

    As long as they keep doing as Apple, still releasing 8/256 GB models, it’s a no go for me. I paid 900€ for my SP8 with keyboard, with 8/256 GB (it was on offer) but the 16/512 GB was crazy expensive. These SP10 may be nice but I won’t pay more than 1000€ for an i5 16/512 GB, let alone around 1500€ real price for that configuration. In 2024 it is unforgivable to have 8 GB of RAM or 256 GB ssd models.

    @@chideramolokwu9558 Thanks for the explanation! One more question, though: What does the use of Qualcomm CPUs mean in terms of CPU- and iGPU-performance, once the expected consumer version of the SP 10 hits the shelves? Will Qualcomm offer comparable or even higher CPU performance than the SP 10 for Business does now, and the same question goes for the iGPU. To be honest, I have not the slightest clue about Qualcomm chipsets. I just heard that they´re considered a hot alternative to Intel and AMD CPUs because of low energy consumption and attractive benchmarks. But just what that means relative to existing CPU families I have no idea.
