    The Pro 10 has anti-reflective coating which probably explains in bright conditions it appears to have deeper blacks. Buying matte AR screen protector should help a bit in theory with the 11 Pro.

    The sp11 has the background light reflection in the field of view off where the sp 10 doesn’t. Maybe that is why the blacks seems brighter than the sp10.

    This video is absolutely useless! Please update this to include how in the heck to get the oculus software to recognize the HDMI connection as connected, instead of the laptop just treating it as another display that it outputs directly to! Without this essential detail, there is simply NO WAY to configure the oculus software to work!

    What about the heat and fan noice from the intel version?

  • @cbutters

    They both get hot enough to need a fan if you push them hard. When the fan is ramped up they both make the same amount of fan noise. Granted, the Snapdragon tends to ramp less often in normal usage.

Though the processing power of the V3 is tempting the surface pro 9 is just enough power for my needs and I think the refinements surrounding the build materials is not quiet enough to justify the switch. It's great to see an AMD tablet, but I think I'll wait for either the 2nd or 3rd generation to iron out some of these.

    Thanks for the review. With your comparison focused on the SP10, I have a Surface Pro 9 presently... would the upgrade be worth it in your opinion? I mainly run editing software (cap cut) and Publisher and Photo editing software. I'm not a gamer, but I am getting more into ai creation with (Dream Machine, Unreal Engine) ...I have a Intel Iris Xe Graphics installed and I've only had one issue notice pop up for one of the platforms. There is an Intel update, to the Intel Arc & Iris Xe Graphics, but I've read issues with upgrading to what is being recommended for this machine.

  • @cbutters
    @cbutters5 күн бұрын

    If you upgrade SP9 i5 -> SP10, I think its worth it. You'd be looking at a decent bump in cpu and GPU performance If you're upgrading a SP9 i7-> SP10 , there is only tiny CPU uplift, and just a 10-35% uplift in GPU, so may not be as worth it. You'd also get NPU on the SP10, for windows studio effects, but its really only useful so far if you use those features on video calls, so ymmv. You may have seen my video on it, but the SP10 Core 5 (135U) & Core 7 (165U) are essentially performing almost exactly the same for the SP10 generation, so unless you need 32gb of ram or something, just save the money and get the 135U version, that is if you end up deciding the upgrade is worth it for you.

    Interesting to see significant results, seems that Microsoft needs to do better in terms of pasting. Also interesting that the CPU seems to take more power now at the cost of the GPU - maybe dedicated heat pipes left and right without overlapping would have been the better choice. Or a third shared heatpipe with a third fan, blowing out at the back where the hinges are. I kinda want to like the SLS 2, but - old and inefficient CPU, at launch we already knew about significantly better ones coming in less than 3 months - massive price increase for a bit more RAM (500 bucks for 16GB, that's insane) - ancient and mediocre LCD panel that has exactly zero HDR effect, advertising it as a 10bit HDR panel is a joke (1 dimming zone), should have been OLED or mini LED from the start - heat getting exhausted at the front towards your hands/palms is an odd choice, but probably due to design decision of the display hinges - big difference in performance between battery power and with power from cable - gets hot very quickly - device uses more than 100w under full load and the USB port cannot deliver that since Microsoft cheaped out on the potential for 140w charging, ergo you are forced to use the original microsoft charger (sux) - only low-end GPU availability, a device with this titanic price tag should have a 4060 as minimum, and go up to at least 4070, best up to a 4090 mobile - terrible battery life overall makes it a hard choice for 3000 bucks. I'd love to see a SLS 3 with a modern and efficient CPU, a bigger battery, better pricing for RAM, OLED and move the fans to the back of the device - that would be an awesome product.

  • @rarespetrusamartean5433
    @rarespetrusamartean54336 күн бұрын

    nah that's just wrong (more likely 3...because 83.9 - 80.9 is 3...not 4...but then the initial one was also rising etc so I guess we can call it either one) That amount of difference in a controlled envoronment is a really great result because a few degrees go a very, very long way when you are near the throttling limit like laptops are pretty much always. On top of that, you can see that the PTM paste cools the GPU faster when the load drops as well, meaning it will always start at a lower temperature than the stock paste, which further helps in a gaming scenario when scenes can vary greatly in GPU demand. This is a pretty damn ignorant comment.

  • @qyygle6058
    @qyygle60587 күн бұрын

    I actually prefer the PTM to liquid metal on laptop. The LM usually has the best thermal performance, but it also transfers so much heat that chassis temps are usually higher as a result. When I repasted a ProArt Studio which came stock with LM to PTM, the thermals were a tiny bit higher, but at the tradeoff of much more comfortable keyboard deck temps. Just a few degrees made a huge difference in feel.

  • @cbutters

    I'd come down to the needs you have rather than the RAM. So if you primarily do office work go with the Pro 11, But if you know you'll be annoyed at the worse GPU performance and limited resolutions / GPU features / no eGPU / driver compatibility go with the Intel SP10. Like I say, I don't see much reason to get the SP11 unless you value OLED and a few extra hours of battery. If you value compatibility and more mature platform and featureset, and especially if you plan to do limited gaming, get the SP10. Personally I'd pick the Pro 10 over the Pro 11 every day if it were my ONLY device.

    It's a mystery to me how those two fans can sound like they're blowing like crazy like tiny hairdryers, but when you feel the exhaust vents there's almost no air coming out. On the other hand, take a Thinkpad, any Thinkpad; the fan will make a soft whooshing sound and the air is coming strongly out of the vents. It's really no fun to use the X13 for gaming due to that annoying hair dryer fan sound.

    small note on copilot+, the screenshotting is a part of Recall and recall actually will do everything on-device, from processing your screenshots to saving them. Said screenshots and processed data will be put in an encrypted database protected by windows hello ESS (what Microsoft uses for Azure AD authentication for enterprise computers), in addition to BitLocker disk encryption being enabled by default Microsoft is scared of the privacy risks which is why they committed to never using recall data to train AI models or sell it for advertising - it never leaves your computer. And they delayed Recall because they want to get it all encrypted via Hello ESS in addition to BitLocker

    -OLED every time -I haven't had it long enough to say for casual video watching or mundane tasks, but the SP11 can play games for longer as it peaks at 32W vs 40W on the SP10 and also has a larger battery. -SP11 looks exactly the same as the SP10 other than oled screen, weight is the same. I guess having more AI TOPS is a benefit, although I haven't found a way to leverage that capability at all yet.
