La mayoría usan una bara de Lamiglass GSB de 11 de media acción, todo es relativo al tiempo y la marea

Any of the quality modern braid in 30-50 pound is what most people use for this kind of fishing. Power Pro, Sufix, Spiderwire or others, there's a bunch making the same sort of braid. You use a barrel swivel to attach a few feet of mono as a leader in 40 or 50 pound.

A good mono is momoi's hi-catch. Its thin strong and is low memory. 20lb is only .40mm so it acts like 17lb with other brands. Not as thin as braded but i find it more forgiving. To be honest if you got more than 200yards of line on the real that is 20lb and up your not going to get spooled by any striper. The biggest thing about fishing any fish is get the line in the water and don't over think things. After you get hard core start experimenting with different types of gear until you find what works for you. If you are just starting out and you know you are going to be addicted don't mess around with cheep $20 combos from Wal-Mart.
