  • @KenjiFox
    @KenjiFox3 жыл бұрын

    Okay just watched more and realized this is more or less your first ride with a Surron Light Bee. So there are sensors in the brake levers, kickstand, throttle return (in the older cable throttle bikes, but still have to mention it) and a crash detection tilt switch. Each of these can cause the bike to stop responding to throttle despite the screen being on still. If you fall over the bike needs a key cycle to go again. The random fail here is likely the sensors in the brake levers. They are held in place with set screws. Make sure they are far enough into the levers and all will be good. They can be electronically disabled, so don't follow any internet advice about unplugging them. They are actually used to do the disabling and other programming such as regen level, and are as such best left in-tact. The kickstand switch should be defeated if you are going to do any hard hillclimbs and jumps though, as often the stand will drop slightly with impact and can cut the power at the worst possible times. Tilt sensor is a matter of preference, and it can sometimes get kicked on a hard enough landing. That said, I think it is a good thing on a bike that won't stop running just because it fell over or is underwater or etc. Surron torque is no joke and I prefer the wheel not keep spinning if it falls over onto the throttle. Pretty much if you have any question about this bike at all, I can answer it. Oh and Surron videos = subscribe from me! :)

    @allwaysadventuring3544

    Yeah, I actually did some research before I bought it, so aware of the sensors. I will probably remove the brake sensors, as that seems annoying. Probably keep regen on for a bit, as it’s super hilly where I live and is nice to slow down the bike and not wear the pads as much. Probably leave the kickstand sensor for awhile and see if I want to turn that off as I know it works for programming too, or might make a mod to keep it from dropping. Definitely got a few things that I want and need to do to it to make it better, and done a couple things already. Have most of the usual things ready to go like brake pads, tires, bars, etc. just kinda trying it out stock to see how that feels first. Big thanks for letting me know about the belt! I had suspected that was probably what I was hearing, but now thanks to you I know it came factory too tight. Damnit! Watched a video on YT from a couple on how to adjust and what tension. Do you have any suggestions on who you would reccomend? Appreciate you man, I’m sure I’ll be hitting you up! You definitely know your Sur Ron’s and thanks for the Sub!

    So, the US retailer Luna cycles did this mod. They only made 100 of these special edition bikes. They say that they’re not going to make any more, but time will tell. The only way to get more out of the bike is to go with an aftermarket controller and a bigger battery or a bypassed battery. When you go with one of these aftermarket options, they can be tricky and quirky. Some people love them and some people hate them. I personally like that the retailer did the mod in house, so if there’s any problems with it, it’s basically under warranty.

    Hey big headsup here, your timing belt (primary drive belt) is way too tight! Bet the belt plays like a banjo string. This is a common problem with the Surron as shipped. Having the extra power will only trash the belt even faster with that tension.

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@allwaysadventuring3544 Yeah basically the moment you took off I knew it was wrong. The belt is so tight that the slight variations in the pulley can be heard, which should be indistinguishable. The primary noise should be the chain roller slap. The belt should be a smooth wurring noise rather than that wun wun wun wun wun noise. The only real belt noise that should ever oscillate on this bike is when slowing down in EP mode with regen (especially on strength 3) you will get a sort of gobbling sound, always reminds me of a turkey or something. That is the belt slightly stretching and relaxing while the regen load changes. Anyway nice bike, congrats on grabbing a ludicrous. Now you're a 1%er.

    @@allwaysadventuring3544 Officially from Sur-ron; " Use tools to adjust tensioner to make belt tense until its elasticity can be felt with hands." Pretty much adjust the motor mounts until the belts stretch is what you feel when pressing on it in the center between two pulleys, rather than just play. Right now your belt sounds like it's already at max stretch and more. Keep an eye on the upper motor mount bolts. Eyeball them to make sure they are the same height in the slot to maintain the relation of the motor shaft to the jackshaft. Otherwise the belt will run to the side.
