Supressed vs Unsupressed Impact Shift
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
One of our most common questions during our long range shooting classes, is, "does a suppressor change your point of impact or affect your accuracy"? In this video we show you exactly what effects a suppressor has on one of our long range rifles.

The direct thread and backing off…that’s what I love about Huxwrx. It can’t happen because it’s reverse thread and the gas flows out in the opposite direction. Every shot it tightens back up. No worries about burning your hands or having to check or use a cover.

Thanks for watching. You bet, we will have one coming soon.
I've wondered about the accuracy of using a suppressed vs. un-suppressed rifle. Your video was informative but left me with a question. If the rifle is sighted in with the suppressor on and then used as such, are there other factors to be considered? Does the accuracy remain constant?

Great question! Yes, if zeroed with the suppressor, the accuracy and POI remain intact. The main reason we get asked the question is for those that zeroed without a suppressor then added one later. Hope that helps. Thank you for watching.
First time suppressor owner. I had this issue with both rifles Bolt action 6.5 Cr Ar 224 Valkyrie Still waiting on approval, location of purchase has a 30yd rage (rifles zeroed at 100yds). After removing their breaks and direct thread the suppressor I observed noticeably tighter groups. Remove suppressor and reattach breaks. Both rifles zero were now off at 100yds by approximately 8in R 4in U. Is this normal? Note the only thing done was swapping b for s and back. Any explanation?

Without going hands on the best explanation we can offer is the added weight of the suppressor and the break are throwing off the harmonics and/or the whip if the barrel to cause groups to not be as tight. It is very common for the POI to be changed as we mentioned in the video. Happy shooting.
I have a 7mm REM Mag. Before my suppressor the bullet would travel through the animal but now with the suppressor the bullet blows up internal but no exit hole? Why is that?

This is the first time we've ever heard of this. The suppressor should not have any bearing at all on pass through of a bullet, if anything, your velocity should increase a little bit because of the added length to your barrel. Only thing we can suggest is if you hit a rib or shoulder blade that slowed your bullet down. I am assuming, same bullet, same distances?
Wouldn't a suppressor generally increase the muzzle velocity of the bullet as there is extra time with pressure behind the bullet (albeit slowing and no longer sealed). As long as the barrel is shorter than terminal performance, the added length of a suppressor would add a fraction of the benefit of a barrel that was the same length longer. That small amount of increase muzzle velocity accounted for less wind drift possibly? Trying to understand why a bullet would change impact with a suppressor. As long as no baffle strike, the only conclusion I would reason was a change in velocity.

Great question and yes it could change the velocity, although it would be pretty minimal. The main reason for change in POI is change in barrel whip. You’ve added weight to the end of the barrel, changing how it performs when fired.

Never measured FPS comparisons in my experience suppressed weapons do impact accuracy, and depending on ammo not consistant..so this comparison is a bit biased most of us dont load our own ammo and buy off the shelf which are variances

As uploader mentioned in another reply, if zeroed with the suppressor then you should be all good especially if using same ammo.
I wonder if calibers would differ in poi vs only testing one caliber

Thank you for your comment. We understand how this could be a little confusing. We were aiming at a completely different Diamond for the suppressed rounds. Unsuppressed was center Diamond, suppressed was bottom right. Thanks for watching.
