Very good information. I am a betta breeder myself and this is good. New breeders might want to keep the bubbling rate low or off when the eggs are laid until they’re strong enough to swim through a current otherwise they could get stressed. I accidentally killed my first spawn that way. Also new breeders should keep the water level at around 4-6 inches deep since the male has to swim down to get the eggs and bring them back up to the bubble nest, and that can be tiring for him. I also have the same brine shrimp hatchery and I put BBS eggs in at 8 pm and they are hatched and in the center at 8 am. I highly recommend it to any fish breeder that needs BBS to feed their fry.

Something that I've used pretty effectively: Using a 10gal or 20L and a Matten filter/foam. I've used it to partition off the area I want to keep the fry (the foam keeps them from swimming to the other side) and then add more space for the fry as they grow. You can use the foam as a Matten filter for double duty. The larger water volume also means you can use a bigger/adjustable heater more easily.

@@CreativePetKeeping I can't find the SUPER dense foam near me, but I've found decent stuff at pond supply stores. Since the pond filters are so much larger, the foam pads are larger and thicker too.

One thing I was wondering is if keeping a partition would also make water changes easier as there wouldn’t be any fry in the area you were syphoning out. And also more surface area for BB.

My friend just got guppies and her mom got 2-3 girls and 4-5 boys they have in total seven and I did my fair share in research in guppies and almost all videos I watched said 1 male to 3 girls so if she gets pregnant they can go to another female and not stress the pregnant mama out. I pointed out to my friends that one of them were pregnant, we all seen little fish in her. When she showed her mother she said “no! That’s a male the males have long tails and we only have one female” this was all wrong, he fish she pointed out was still almost a fry and almost all the males were chasing her and i felt really bad for her. Later that night we seen the little fry be cornered in the 100+ gallon tank (great size tanks i was impressed) and probably mated with we tapped on the glass to get the males away (which was a bad idea) and failed... I’m pretty sure the other female guppy with give birth soon, my friend is getting more fish I dunno what to think of it. They also have two mice, one male and one female in separate crittertrails and mesh wheels, her older sister also has a Syrian hamster in a maybe 10 gallon tank... they mean well but I wanna say something, they have access to internet and info to properly care for all the animals they have. But I was their guest so I didn’t want to insult them in their own house. So I didn’t say anything I’m so sad with myself because all of their animals are active and so adorable!

The sponge filter can be any size that fir well with the lower water level. The more sponge the better because it means a bigger surface area for bacteria.
