While attempting to get a female and male betta together to breed them, I was told they would fight immediately. Watching your video, I now know how to successfully breed them both without them fighting. Your video was informational. Thank you! :)

It's great that u understood that but I've been watching these videos on how to breed bettas but Non of them actually said on HOW CAN U TELL that those are bubbles and those are the eggs, and I still can't tell the diffrence, so maybe u or someone can Enlight me on that...?

@@darrkcrystal7080 Pay attention to the color of your bubbles. Eggs tend to have a yellowed tint towards the middle. The yellowed tint indicates when a bubble is fertilized. Just like you, I'm not 100% sure if this is the correct information. Hopefully it is. :)

I kept a male Betta in a tank with 2 other fish (pleco and I'm not sure what other one it was just cheap) and never had problems with them Fighting or even being aggressive or territorial but I did have them in a 10 gallon tank so if you want to mix it up you can have Bettas with other fish sometimes it all just depends on the Betta itself and it's temperament

All you wanna do is: First on a breeding tank put the male for about an hour or two. Then you can add plants if you want and feed the male live food or protein based food then introduce the female to the male and after 1 or 2 days put them together and leave them for 1 day and next day remove the female and the eggs will hatch in 2 or 3 days and let the male be with the babies for 3 days and then remove the male and feed the babies boiled egg yolk or any live plants and thats it! Hope this helped you :)

I bred Bettas many times about 30 years ago. What I did was put them both in a 2 1/2 gallon tank with a divider. Float a plastic deli container lid upside down on the male side. He always made his nest under it. After a few days, pull out the divider. Wait until mating is done and eggs are in the nest. Pull the female out ASAP, I've seen him beat the hell out of her when I left for an hour. She was a white betta and literally had bruises on her. She recovered nicely and I had her for nearly 8 years. Anyway. Put a glass cover on the tank to hold in any heat so the fry don't get a mouthful of cold air (a friend of mine suggested that after she started doing it when her attempts mostly failed. She had great success after the lid). Remove the male when they're free swimming. I fed the fry plankton powder (baby brine shrimp food).

You'll know when the female is ready to breed when you look under her stomach and see a bump meaning she is pregnant and you will see a small white dot, that means she's ready, but if they male is attacking her aggressively and you see her darting away that means they need more time to get comfortable so remove the female and isolate her from the male for another day or two

So should i try breeding them now? (when the tank was getting set up, the female and male first met kind of like in the setup at 3:12 , the female seems abit not ready as she's been here for 2 weeks.)

    1. I usually use a 3 gallon box the box/aquarium doesn't need to be big 2. that depends it could be just a few or hundreds 3. the babies have to be fed for the first time after 2-3 days, twice a day you have to do a water change every day 4. this can take between 1-3 days depending on the temperature 5. usually until the babies start swimming freely Hope this helped!

Bettas need water pure one without chlorine so yes and also don't add air stone while breeding do it after you take out the male so they fry can breath

I have three males and two females, and been trying to get at least one successful pair for months, but all failed: the male would just keep chasing the female, even if he built a nice big nest. There was one time it almost worked out, the male built a big nest, and did not attack the female at all, and tried to invite her to the nest, but that time, it was the female being uncooperative, and didnt wanted to go under the nest. After a day, the male got angry at the female cause she didnt follow him, and turned against her. I'm slowly giving up, but gonna give the project another try, and this time gonna try to follow this video as much as I can~

You should check the female if she has the egg and ready for breeding. Or else it won't work. You will know it if there is 1 egg outside of her stomach

@@Teabone3 should they always be bred in a seperate tank, won’t they breed in a 2 liter tank ,? Is adding plants necessary I don’t seem to find any plant nearby. How old should the female betta should be ,? I noticed a small egg opening in her stomach but still they aren’t breeding they got together well, the male has created a bubble nest but it’s been 3days and no eggs hatched yet.

Try conditioning your females. If you don't condition them they won't produce a lot of eggs and won't feel the urge to breed. Be sure you see the ovipositor. The thing is bettas don't really meet up unless they breed, so if the female doesn't want to breed the male assumes she's just an enemy. It's not her being uncooperative, females aren't meant to just mate on a whim like males. Eggs are a much larger gamete and therefore require more preparation, plus females are picky because of how much extra energy they have to use to make these larger gametes. Also might depend on male attitude and experience. If a first timer his nest might not be perfect and females are very picky about nests since their genetics depends on the nest quality and male attitude. In a lot of fish females are actually very attracted to males with current nests or batches of fry. Just keep trying and don't expect your female to just give in immediately, she's her own fish and females tend to be picky, that goes for most animals :) females may also show signs of interest, sometimes they nip and flare back

@@I_pirated_premium thank you for this, right now I have second batch of betta fries, thank you for this remarkable explanation, with biological reasoning, but sadly my male died after seperating it from its second batch of frys, I still don’t know the reason, loved my male betta, in the honour of its father, i am raising the fries with very much care, do you happen to have any idea on BBS hatching ,? I hatched BBS, but they seem to die the next day after hatching, how to keep them alive for a longer time.
