Supernovae: The Most Extreme Explosions!
Ғылым және технология
Supernovae are some of the brightest and most powerful explosions in the universe, bright enough to outshine entire galaxies. These cosmic catastrophes come in many varieties, characterised by their elements and light. Today, we will cover the various types of supernova as we take a deep dive into these tremendous explosions.

Only stupid people take everything seriously in this video
So, my dad passed away when I was 4 years old. As a result of this, i've obviously inherited some items. One of which is made of gold. It was his wedding ring when he married my mum. I've just reached the end of the video and heard what you said about gold and silver, making me properly look at the ring i'm wearing for the first time in a long while. I'm really, really glad I watched this video in particular. Supernovae are one of my favourite subjects, but intertwining it in that way hit different tonight. Your content is nothing short of brilliant SEA. I look forward to your next one.

I’m a writer and film editor, I’m currently working on a sci-fi that is supposed to be very grounded in science. It would be much more difficult to learn about this kind of subject without this miracle of a channel. Thank you so much for the work you do and the incredible effort you put into every video.

You’d think people who write films “very grounded in science” would hire a person knowledgeable about the field instead of learning dumbed down versions of very complex subjects.

I once heard space being described as "violent", and it has stuck with me ever since. It's humbling how delicate (known) life is, and the very specific conditions required for it to not only exist, but continue to flourish. Even the most hardy and adaptive of species are like a little snowflake in the grand scheme of cosmic conditions. We can't even leave our planet without carefully engineered tech without dying. Hell, you can even die falling out of bed! Sometimes I try to imagine what it would be like if I somehow fell into something like the sun, or a supernova, or a black hole. What would I see or hear? What torture it would be to be under such pressures and speeds. The closest I can imagine is broken ragdoll physics in a game, when a dead body gets stuck in the ground but its head or arm or whatever gets stretched to the other side of the map, and the whole thing is angrily vibrating trying to cope with the glitched collision. Then suddenly it gets yeeted out to the sky at the speed of sound, never to be seen again.

30 minutes of absolute SEA BLISS. Thanks once again for all these amazing episodes and for this wonderful channel. 💖❤️💖❤️💖🙏💖❤️💖❤️💖
I'm a space video junkie and in my humble opinion, your videos are light years beyond the others out there. Please don't stop making these or change anything about the way you make them! Thank you so much
This has to be the most underrated channel on youtube.
To me you're David Attenborough of Space. I play these at 0.75 speed to prolong the enjoyment, which also increases the DA effect. Also the slwer pacing helps my thick brain to digest the info.
You are probably my favorite KZread channel. Your videos are so relaxing, gripping, informative and you make it accessible and easy to understand. Thank you so much for your hard work. 🙏🏽
Some of the finest documentary channels on KZread, your narration skills are absolutely on point. The graphics along with the music selection was some of the finest I've seen. Good job Sea, you're killing it... can't wait for more fire!
This was a fantastic video. As a suggestion for a future video, I think it'd be fascinating if you devoted an entire episode to the cosmic origins of the elements. In other words, which elements were created in the Big Bang, which are created during a star's Red Giant phase, which are created by supernovas, etc. There are a couple of lectures on this topic on KZread, but it's such an interesting subject and it would benefit from your storytelling and production polish.
Yoooo the GD legend is all grown up. I’m sure you’ve heard this a lot over the past three years but I’m super happy to see what this channel has turned into. It was a pleasant surprise to come back after four years and see this channel not only persisting, but rather thriving.
Highest quality content available on KZread. Thanks SEA. Lots of Love. My favorite channel.
i get unreasonably excited whenever you upload a new video, even if it puts me to sleep (in a good way) a lot :D
Was About to sleep but hey sleep can wait.
honestly thank god for your channel. the vast majority of other space yt channels are just spam/clickbait/outright lies. appreciate you, sir!
I can not believe we have access to such amazing content. The visuals are a 10/10. The narrating is a 10/10. Each new video is on a new and exciting topic. Again, the visuals, graphs, demonstrations of information ... it's all so, so good.
Another perfectly produced and pricelessly informative video. Thanks for being the first person to actually explain a “standard candle” to me in a way my simple brain can understand.
Some of the best writing on any science channel - hell, ANY channel - on KZread.
I listen to these every night, ear buds in, wife watching TV. I’ve listened to some of these four or five times now, great brain food. Keep up the great work!!!!

Brilliant! Ten out of ten. This is your best ever production. Please keep up this now second-to-none standard of excellence!
I always assumed the original version of "Woodstock" was the one by Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. Came to learn about supernovae and also got pro-tipped on music 😂
I'm so glad this channel was recommended to me. Anything space is awsome and the topics as well as the production value in these videos is out of this world. Not only do I feel relaxed when watching/listening i also learn something new and that's priceless. Please keep up the great work.
I was waiting for you to make a video on Supernovae, it is one of my favorite topics when discussing about astronomy, and Im so glad that you made this. Thanks SEA

To borrow a comment trend I'm seeing here, I really have to tell my friends about this channel. I watched a video of your about the end of the universe, and between these two, it's rare that I'm riveted from minute one, concerning such heady topics as you regularly discuss. Fan-frickin-tastic!
Oh thank you for this , been waiting for a new vid ❤️
As always awesome documentary, love it
Man your videos are soo good I actually get stoked like nothing else when I see your videos being released, much love
Words alone are not enough to express my love for this channel! Please continue what you are doing as you feed my brain with fascinating and incredible knowledge that i love and cherish dearly! We are all but dust !
Thank you for your another breathtaking and illuminating production video. I’ll have a look in a minute, but I haven’t come across it yet in your channel; but I’d love you to talk about the current thinking on how the more exotic heavy elements are produced… The way you explain things is so accessible.
SEA’s videos are astounding! Seriously, some of the best educational content on KZread by far. SEA should get way more exposure/credit than what it’s currently getting. Documentary quality work. I could easily imagine seeing these as episodes on any streaming service (Netflix,Disney+,etc.) or cable tv (NatGeo,Discovery, etc.) Great job! Keep it up! 👍👏
Thank you SEA for all the work you put in to bring to us such well put together video gems packed with cosmic knowledge.
I just like the form of your presentation: you are calm and relaxing, occasionally perhaps a little bit sensational, but due to the matter explained, it has to be. You are describing heavily energetic processes, so you give an example that one may have a clue of the dimension talked about. Thank you.
Finally a great new video! Love the stuff you do. I learn a lot and your soothing voice and video style helps me fall asleep after a stressful day.
I'm so glad I found this channel, these are like professional documentaries and I love them!
I can't find the right words to explain how your videos and your voice makes me feel. Simply amazing, thank you so much for existing and for giving us this excellent channel and videos. Never disappointing.
Man I absolutely 💯 love ❤ when you release a video. They're always very educational and informative. Also very high quality content 👌🏾 👏🏾 Keep up the good work SEA! 💯👍🏾👏🏾

Great video. Should be a part 2 though explaining electron capture supernovae and pair instability (the latter dives more into hypothetical territory but I’m all for it)
Thanks to your videos, I have actually been able to battle my insomnia, and I watch them whenever I have a snackmeal. And as I love everything about space and physics, I just wanna say, god damn great job making thees videos! And thank you for being real about it!
Man, you're simply the best science channel on KZread, damn bro, high quality videos, great narrative, everything is perfect!
Thanks for another great upload!
Absolutely love your videos, I've been following your content for about about a year at this stage and it's been incredible watching how professional your videos have gotten. I'm looking forward to where this channel takes you and to watching all your future videos. I'm also a big fan of how regular your uploads are, and I'm glad that you're focusing on quality as opposed to trying to get a mediocre video out in a shorter amount of time. Keep up the good work :)
I can not believe you only have that many subscribers!!! it should be millions !! the detail in these videos are mind blowing and who ever writes these scripts is a poet. beautiful videos and I love nothing more than listening to these every single night while drifting off into intergalactic spacey dreamy sleep. ! ❤
Amazing as ALWAYS. I couldn't wait for the next video and finally it's here!
for some reason i haven't received notifications when you upload even though i've turned on channel notifications... oh well, just more great content for me to watch now :D edit: also how do you have only ~440k subs with content this good

The backing up and confirming of our early observements is fascinating! Thank you for sharing.
Amazing video! Love how you're able to explain supernovas in such ease and detail, love it when I'm trying to chill. Great stuff as usual SEA. ^^
This channel keeps on providing. This is a topic that has fascinated my imagination when I studied 15 years ago. Love it!! Great job SEA.
This video is outstanding. Best quality I've seen. Please keep making them.
I used to watch these to go to sleep. Now I watch during the day because this is stuff I want to remember. Love cutting my teeth on the cutting edge with your help, Sea
SEA of knowledge 👏
Always a good day when SEA releases one of their high quality space videos
Your channel is a gift, SEA. Thank you 💕
Brilliant as always! Have quietly hoped for a vid on supernovae too, excellent stuff
To be fair to Joni Mitchell, I think she knew it wasn’t just a cliche right? Pretty sure they knew about supernovae and atom formation in the 60’s

Stardust is quite poetic. Maybe that's why lyrics describing us as cosmic litter or thermonuclear waste, though just as accurate, never hit the charts.
