I don’t see a reason why reopening this supermarket is not a good thing. The supermarket upgraded their security and were thoughtful enough to add a memorial. It’s been two months, life goes on. If you grieve forever you won’t heal.

A retired cop was working as security there at the time of shooting. His pistol rounds bounced off the armor of the shooter, and he died when the shooter returned fire with rifle rounds. I do not see any “upgrade” in this video. Still just a security guard armed with a pistol... He needs a rocket launcher

It's still a business and it still needs to be managed and run. Very thoughtful of them to have a memorial but the owners still have to pay the workers and the taxes.

I agree. It’s so sad what happened but the business owner shouldn’t be forced to shut down over something that’s not their fault. My heart breaks for the community.

Life has to continue eventually. This community really needs this supermarket, and everyone working at it/the owner has to make money somehow. The store looks really nice too, and the memorial is awesome. Rest in peace to the lives lost 🙏

With me living in Buffalo, I understand how bad the community needs the store back open. Our hearts forever healing 💕

For the people crying "why don't they close and down and destroy it" because people need food people need it to get a job. If you're really worried about it not closing down then that's sad because what about schools when this happens? I don't see anybody say anything about the schools. Then you have that one person in here blaming video games. Literally can't understand how hard it is to have a IQ that's smarter then a 5 year old.

The tragedy is heartbreaking, but as many have said it's important that it reopens only because it's the closest supermarket where many pedestrians can get to from what it seems. Only if another supermarket could have been made in the same amount of time would it be reasonable to dismantle it, imo the shooter knee he was going to not only hurt the community, but destroy it by taking out such an essential service that so many depend on, going full scorched earth policy. It's amazing at least now the supermarket is back and can continue being the service it needs to feed the community around it

The store isn't the problem, the memorial pay respect and remember those who lost their lives. The store not only provide essential but also hire people from the community. Can't let your personal feelings stop the people from living their life.

Its heartbreaking, but the store has to open again. The community needs food, and theres many people who cant travel other places, I speak from experience living in a city with no car where i truly only have one grocery store that isnt a crazy uber fare away. The memorial was touching

People have jobs and need to feed their families. The only way to heal is keep moving forward. I pray they find closure, peace and forgiveness soon.

people don't close down a school after a shooting, it still needs to provide a use after a tragedy. What happened at Tops was tragic, but it's still a supermarket and needs to be a supermarket.

Glad they added a memorial and security. I hope the community heals with time.

Dude... it's kind of surreal. When it happened, it shocked every town across western NY. Rest in peace to the people who perished in this horrible event.

I'm from Brooklyn but I've been to Buffalo several times and it really isn't something you'd imagine to happen there. It's sad. Buffalo always seemed much more calm compared to nyc lol.

This is the only grocery store in the neighborhood. That's why its important for the store to reopen. It's tragic and sad, the loss of life that occurred in a horrific way but the community needs this store.

Ever since the shooting started at that place the shooting deaths have became popular in the USA up to this day and it’s unfortunate.

“Security was upgraded” one guy outside on the parking lot. Yes that’ll prevent another mass shooting

There's literally no reason outside of empty sensitivity for the sake of sensitivity to keep it closed. Far better and more helpful to more people to reopen it with a permanent memorial to the victims

The store is needed in that community...

You have to understand the owner of the store has to make money and a living to provide for his family. I understand that the shooting is traumatic but life must go on in the most respectful way possible. rip to all of the victims and their families.

as much as no one wants it to be reopened, life must sadly go on. i’m glad there is a tribute and better security. it’s heartbreaking, and people who don’t want it reopened is understandable. i hope they heal.

I give it to the employees that have to go back to that. I can't imagine being at the job site everyday after a mass shooting I lived through. I personally would have to find another job.

Much respect to these people for going back even through all that they went through this just plainly shows that these people will never be broken🤔

We feel for the victims of that hateful and senseless attack. Some say its too soon to open the store, it should be torn down or turn into a memorial for the victims. You have living people still in that community that needs to be serve. You can't mourn forever. Life goes on regardless of the good or bad that has happened.

The store can't stay closed forever. It's providing a service and jobs to the community.

I still hurt for these people, watching the shooters video broke my heart. Here in El Paso they opened the Walmart right away too... they have a huge memorial in the front.

I think how they handled it was perfect in the end the community needs this place and from what I’ve heard its the local spot. Not everyone has transportation in that community that store is part of the community. The memorial and renovations look great! Rest easy to all that lost lives that day it broke my heart I saw the video and I wish I never did. It was disgusting worst video I’ve ever seen.

I can't believe this was already 2 months ago. I guess there has been so many more mass shootings/school shootings the time flashed by for me to remember when this one exactly happened.

I like how their sign said 10 black lives lost. Like that is somehow any different then any other life lost.

Why did it have to be closed for so long? That could cause them to go out of business. I could see a day or two for an investigation but damn. The shooting happening there was hard enough on them making them close for 2 months is brutal.

I saw the raw footage of the shooting. I couldn’t sleep, I felt sick, I couldn’t smile at anything for days. I wouldn’t be able to go there after what I saw, and I’m not even a resident there. I’m not black. I can’t imagine how they feel. How scary and horrific it is to have to go back there to work, to get groceries, just like the victims were doing and not expecting anything like that to happen. They’re so brave and strong. I commend them. Because I don’t think I can ever shake away the trauma I have from seeing the shooting. I wish the people there all the best.

cant stay closed forever :/ many people at the store probably rely on it to make ends meet. I understand the families reasoning, well i cant understand what they went through, but life must go on sadly, reopening is a way to move forward for many. And the community needs the store

So very sad that tragedy happened but people must realize that life goes on with or without you .

I can’t imagine nor do I ever want to know how these people feel having to shop in a place that was once the scene of tragedy BUT I do know that living in a food desert is hard. So for the people that say it should be replaced with a memorial I hope someone plans to build a source for food somewhere close as well.

It's been 2 months? I feel like these shootings happened just last week. So close and often I get confused I just seen leaked footage from Uvalde shooting and literally we just heard about 4th of July Parade shooter.

Did they change the layout of the store?

I wouldn't go there unarmed after that. That store can't stay closed indefinitely, it's vital to that area's economy.

With the benefit of hindsight, I sincerely hope that lessons will be learnt this time and procedures will be reviewed thoroughly and vigorously to ensure that this doesn't occur again on US soil. Prayers, vigils, resolve and meaningful dialogue.

For the ones saying they need to tear down this store and build a new one, that’s a lengthy process that would most likely take at least 3 years.

May everyone that was shot there rest in piece.💗 But I think they made the right decision on reopening the store.

It’s a shame how to reopen it so soon but my understanding is that’s the only grocery market in this town. And many people had issues trying to get food because of that reason. This usually happens in low income areas that they don’t have enough places to go to get food.

Some people will protest literally anything.

Life continues friends. Life doesn't stop for you and the store needs to open for those who also needs it and not travel miles away to another one. This doesn't mean they still don't remember those who have fallen.

So, a store needs to be close to grieve. What about the people that need food, essentials and more. People need to pay their bills. A memorial has been made to honour those lost that day. Lives that should be coming into that store and as someone who has lost family members to one thing to another. They know I like everyone else need to move on as life moves on. We need this store to reopen and show the community is shaken but will still stand and move on in memory of those lost.
