Thanks buddy! The Quadmula is my go-to frame now, really happy with the ease of use and quality. Would be awesome if they'd do a 3.5 or 4" conversion kit.

When using dynamic power, just because it jumps up to full power doesn’t necessarily mean you needed full power. This can happen if the signal degrades quickly enough to require a a couple jumps up in power. The transmitter will jump to the high setting so it doesn’t take too long to find what it needs to prevent failsafe. The telemetry link going down would also cause this to happen since the transmitter would no longer be able to see the signal quality. Telemetry has a lower max power compared to the control signal.

Thanks for the note, I never lost telemetry during the flight. The Tango 2 Pro has an audible warning when telemetry is lost. I do agree with you point that it will ramp up quickly to prevent a failsafe. I found it strange that even when it was at ~-103dbm, the transmit power was still at 10mw. I'd think at that point it would ramp up but I suppose it looks at a combination of "things" to make that determination.

I have one of these sandwiched in my 3.5 in frame and it goes 1/4 mile no problem, amazing.

So that's about 400m, still within the 600m advertised on their website. What power output do you use on your transmitter?

@@Mangorille I use auto power up to 1W. I do get telemetry lost - telemetry recovered warnings around 200m, but the link is rock solid. I bet if I moved it to the underside of the quad it would be even better.

@@catbroh Got it. my module only goes up to 500mw but I suspect it would go 300-400m easily at 500mw.

How far did you fly it? It should perform similar to what you saw in this video, which is usually good enough for smaller quads that you don’t fly more than a couple of hundred meters away from yourself.

I don’t know how far exactly but my latest video one take you can see it def rocks pavo pico v2 gorgeous whoop….

Sitting atop that metal heatsink doesn't seem the best place for this module.

Agree. Problem is that there really isn’t anywhere else that’s well protected during crashes.

I replace the built-in antennas with a simple piece of wire (usually enamelled motor wire, but anything works), around 31mm and get much better performance. You are basically making a simple monopole antenna this way. I really don’t like the onboard antennas.

I've heard of folks doing this on whoops and I've seen even some come with a piece of stiff wire. For a 3"+, I'd think you'd still get better range going with a normal antenna that has a bit of give to it in crashes.
