    Sweet jet! I'd like to see the RC plane that it powers. (Yes, EDF's are electric jet reaction engines; not to be confused with a turbojet engine)

    Wow! It even sounds like a jet engine!

    To all the people saying it isn’t a jet engine, the title already mentioned that it’s an electric jet. Moreover it’s a brushless motor and has enough thrust to use on a big scale rc plane.

    It's an electric ducted fan, no turbine (jet) there. I made one of these in the late 70's it used a high performance single cylinder model aircraft engine which ran at 25000 RPM on nitro fuel. It was hugely noisy with a big long tuned pipe out the back.

    Was thinking of tricking one of these out on my gaming computer as an exhaust fan . Wouldn't keep it at max RPMs but would keep it from heating my room when the comp is on.

    Mikael Lindqvist an EDF is just a fan (this video) ⬆️ and a real jet engine is also a fan but when it sucks in the air it gets compressed and then the fuel is added and ignited so it shoots out flame to produce waaaayyyyyy more thrust

  • @memelordrafael4091

    @memelordrafael4091

    5 жыл бұрын

    Mikael Lindqvist making one is hard and buying one is expensive but if you really wanted to make one you basically just add compression, combustion chambers, and an exhaust but again really hard

  • @iggusify

    @iggusify

    5 жыл бұрын

    Thanks! So the definition is that in a jet there is also ignition of the fuel, got it... Just saw a video of Elon Musk talking about electric jets. Wonder what he means? Planes with an EDF like in this video, or one where some "rocket fuel" is also ignited after it is compressed...
