    I bought a Ka-Bar knife back in the late 80's and carried it during hunting season. When my son joined the Marines as a rifleman (0311), I gave it to him before his first deployment.

    I absolutely love this! One of my most prized possessions is my grandfather's Ka-Bar. He was a Raider in WW2. It was issued to him just before the battle of Guam in 1944. He did, in fact, use it to kill the enemy.

    I number the spacers and washers on the same corner and side with a sharpie. You can get a KABAR leather handle rebuild kit that includes the steel guard, pommel, and pommel pin.

    Brilliant work. I was wondering why you never kept a shine on it, then I remembered it is a military object and the shine would give your position away. I enjoyed this one a lot. 👌👍👍

    Is there a reason to remove rest manually when you have a sandblaster? Legit question, I'm just getting into sandblasting and it seems like it's the better route most of the time. And of course I'm not talking about the mess and clean up and everything, just the results

    I recognized the crack on the spine. It's either a cold shunt, or a delamination. Which means the knife was not heat treated or forged properly during production. It's not an end of the world issue overall, but it would be good not to put excessive force on it, so it doesn't snap. Otherwise, it's a perfect piece😊

    Yes, I've been to Olean, NY. I attended St. Bonaventure University in the late 70s-early 80s. Bona is roughly 4 miles east of Olean. Although, my Ka-Bar was made in Camillus, NY; which is a suburb of Syracuse.

  • @timothyvongalii937

    @timothyvongalii937

    Жыл бұрын

    According to KA-bar lore, they had a different name way back in frontier times, and got a letter from a satisfied customer, saying it could probably “kill a bear” if it needed to. The writer of the letter was barely literate, so came off as “kill a bar” or “ka a bar” and they took “Ka-bar” as their name

    I can't believe you consider this a restoration. A truly restored Ka-Bar would have had a parkerized blade, and a steel guard and buttcap. Using aluminum, and bluing the blade rather than parkerizing it is an offense to anybody that ever served in the Marine corps, myself included.

    Non posso vedere certe cose, lo sapevo che la punta del trapano si sarebbe incastrata alla fine del foro, ha rischiato di tagliarsi i polpastrelli e finire in ospedale. Una morsa piccola per trapano a colonna costa 10 euro non vale la pena di finire all'ospedale. Oppure usate una pinza grip .
