How flexible is it. If it’s very flexible then it might be a fillet knife.

Marvelous job you did restoring that knife. It looks much better and it is razor sharp. I also like the new sheath you made for it. Excellent work as usual.

That looks like it was a worn-out mill file that someone ground into a taper to convert to a knife. That kind of thing used to be done a lot; I have an ancient butcher knife here whose blade started out as a section of a broken band saw blade from a steel mill, back in the 1920s. It holds an edge amazingly well. I need to make a new pair of grips for it, though.

Beautiful work, BUT... This is clearly a kitchen knife (slicer), rather than a hunting-type knife! Therefore, the guard/bolster is wrong -- you need a bolster that allows the user's hand/fingers to be 1/4 on the blade, 3/4 on the handle. (And a belt-loop sheath would not be used with it...) Otherwise, I really like the wire on the handle, and like I said, otherwise the work was done beautifully!

That is most likely a fish/fillet knife and as such, that handle ... it looks like you tried to mate a lion with an elephant, it just won't work.

I cannot fathom why these youtube "restorers" spend days removing rust with electrolysis, wirebrushing, various liquids... and then just end up grinding the surface anyway.
