For some reason, Nintendo is extremely protective of this theme specifically. It's the only Metroid theme I personally have heard of getting repeatedly hit with copyright.

This track doesn't get enough love. The whole score for Super Metroid is incredible.

id say the red soil brinstar theme is one if the best within the entire series. but it is difficult to say which one in SM is better since each were able to set a mood for the specific areas. Especially first theme in Maridia since it pairs well with the setting if a dark, lonely, isolated cave. Kind if like my home....😂

This track was so iconic, it was redone and used as the Multiplayer music in Metroid Prime 2. But that version was so good that everyone forgot the original.

Bawesome Kid I'm a little wary of any remake of Super Metroid. The game is simply a masterpiece and much of its charm really comes from its 16-bit graphics and sound effects. I'm content with the game remaining on its throne as a legend of gaming history. I'd rather Nintendo focus on rebooting Metroid with a new title that better combines the elements of old and new Metroid than Other M attempted to do. I'm tired of Prime but I don't want a butchered story that disrespects Samus as a character either. Something along the lines of Metroid Fusion would be preferable.

+artbargra No love for DKC series, Killer Instinct, Rise of the Robots, FF6, Chrono Trigger, Super Castlevania IV? :( I love Super Metroid more than all other SNES games combined, but there are just so many other games with music that was at least as good as SM's, so that's a little unfair. At some point I had bits of all of them on my player; they held up so well it was unbelievable. That said, Green Brinstar was probably my favorite videogame BGM when I was a kid. I lost my cart at some point and had to wait 5-6 years before I had a PC that could run ZSNES. The moment I took that elevator down after so many years of wait... wow dude.

+moozooh I know that feel. It happened to me when I played Contra for the first time in like 10 years. But, talking about VGM, one of my all time favs is Macross: Scramble Valkyrie. And you didn't mention Contra 3, Yoshi's Island, A Link to the Past... You know what? It's actually easier to list the SNES games without cool music :-)

+artbargra I actually did want to mention Contra 3 and a couple others (like Gradius III and Battletoads in Battlemaniacs), but I thought they weren't quite as recognized for music as the ones I did list. I guess you could name Rise of the Robots as the exception, but that's only because the game itself is garbage; it's soundtrack is still stellar and could easily be played at a techno- or breakbeat-oriented nightclub at the time (give it a go if you haven't!). I've never played Macross, what tracks should I check out?

If there's one think Smooth does perfectly, it's Ambient music like this. I'm with people on this, if Smooth did the entire Super Metroid, he'd have people crying for a remastered version. That's how good he is.

If it had this remix it'd be perfecter than perfect. And if this game is remade I hope they go the AM2R route and add more content. I also hope that if this game is remade they make it pixelated and don't change anything except change the green brinstar theme to this.
