I mean if the Ask the Developer interviews are to be believed, which I do, Koji Kondo was the one to come up with these levels and he seems to be pretty high up in the company.

I love how at the end of the break time stages, the positioning of the coins is accurate to the music notes playing! It's just a pretty neat detail

"Fluff-Fluff Peaks Special Climb to the beat" was the hardest level in the game for me; it's so easy to fall behind or mess up a wall jump.

It actually is the second hardest (final-final gauntlet is the hardest level in the game) and requires a badge that you get later to make it slightly easier.

I’m in agreement. Piranha Plants on Parade sucks imo and so does the semifinal test, but this one, as well as every other music level in this game, lives rent-free in my head. Aside from Jump, Jump, Jump, that was pain

As someone who loves Mario games and rhythm based games the shock and pure joy on my face when playing the game and coming across these rhythm based and musical levels was incredible. The Bowsers Rage Stage was probably the most fun I've ever had on a Bowser level in all the Super Mario Bros games.

The piranha plants are ADORABLE 🥺

Imagine a wonder style for another mario maker That would unironically be a dream come true

lmao this game was designed to basically be the opposite of Super Mario Maker. It's decidedly non-modular; every level has a story to it, and the mechanics of each level are unique. It'd be pretty hard to recreate that with just standard level elements, even in Night Mode.

​@@62049 and this is why I think that If they ever make Mario maker 3, there should be an option to change to an "advanced" mode, where it's harder to make levels for the normal user because of how precise it is. Like, literally giving us the developer tools.

It sounds like something both may attempt to do. Both like taking over the world/universe, both fail at it often, and both have had their minions stolen at least once (Bowser's in Mario+Luigi: rise of fawful, and DJ Octavio's in Splattoon 3) and both have a taste for music (bowser likes rock or metal music, and octavio likes Disco music)

Bowser might be a lot of things, but he’s definitely a rockstar

This game is literally about getting high. "Seeing pink elephants" has been used for centuries to describe states of delirium and altered consciousness. Wonder Seeds are the pineal gland - reality becomes more vivid and colorful when activated. Flower coins are straight up molly, even DMT is represented in the background fractals of the Bowser castle - Bowser straight up MERGES with an inanimate object. Mario becoming invisible is a metaphor of the feeling of becoming one with the universe and so on. This mushroom-drug allegory has been used since the original game, but here the developers embraced it full-on for the first time.

The King Boo level reminds me of that Wedding chapter from Little Big Planet

These remind me of a game called Harmoknight. All the levels were timed to music, and you'd hit enemies as you did, in rhythm. They even had bonus levels that were Pokémon songs, like a gym or champion battle, or the bicycle theme. Kinda makes me wish this whole game was rhythm-based.
