I haven’t been this surprised about long odds since realizing that someone could beat Red in HGSS with Silver’s team unmodded. No I’m not joking, it’s legit possible. You just need a lot of very specific luck, no change of moves or levels needed.

Every eliminated form downfall: Goomba: couldn't jump high Balloon: couldn't hit blocks or enemies Puffy Lift: dies if a object stays on for too long and couldn't hit Bowser Jr. Spike Ball: breaks any blocks it touches Wubba: couldn't swim Biyon: couldn't wall jump or climb Metal: heavy.

@@nhellapena6602 I'd say their advantages are: Goomba: Can walk on spikes (not that this becomes relevant) Balloon: Fly, obviously, also basically immortal Puffy Lift: Seems to be basically immortal Spike Ball: Also basically immortal Wubba: Wall climb, very strong, can do most things Biyon: So tall. Navigates nearly normally Metal: Basically immortal, can use badges and power ups Honorary mention: Hoppycat: Succeeds so well because very very jumpy, gets over most platforming and enemy challenges with ease, not a big enough target to be an issue, can navigate nearly normally most of the time. The downsides are that I don't think it would be able to climb on poles (necessary in a few battle ship levels), and I don't think has a double jump or spin, so may struggle with very long gaps. I suspect that Hoppycat would reach a point where it couldn't proceed eventually.

As to why Hoppycap could only Dolphin Kick in the first level, the easiest explanation would be that activating most Wonder Flower transformations disables your movement badges, but when the game forces you to equip the Dolphin Kick badge at the beginning of the level it overrides the previous rule.

@@Trev-h1lux Then why did Dolphin Kick I work again when he went back? It’s something specifically about the first level that breaks the rule about transformations.

The reason why metal mario can do a lot more than others is because they don't actually change how mario plays, other than those small changes.

That was a masterpiece, a total roller-coaster of emotions. Even the man with no tear ducts that can't cry shed tears for our fallen warriors. We love you Hoppy. And R.I.P Metal Mario the original under dog

Metal Mario HAD a reputition to live up to though! Didn't let us down in Mario 64, so it was agonizing to see him lose this challenge in the finals.

This was such a beautiful video. I was rooting for Metal the entire way through and I was so sad to see him fall short in the end, but man what a run

He prob could beat the game he does everything you need to beat him he can hit bow wow jr we can get very far its questinablle if he can hit bowser but if he can he may be able to beat the game

with all metal mario went through to make it as far as he did, he DESERVED first, he was screwed over from the start and had to work for every single victory, meanwhile hoppycat was just blessed with perfection. Even if metal mario only got second, he had to work for it. im curious to see how far metal mario could go if it weren't for that level, and would enjoy watching that much more then a hoppy cat only playthrough given the only thing that could stop hoppycat is breakable blocks below or to the side he needs to get past

Feels like a reflection of reality. Average person has handicaps to progress compared to a genius and has to work so much harder to get as far, but still comes up short in second, while the genius more or less coasts to first with only the bare minimum of work required.

@thelelanatorlol3978 A genius who works hard would crush an average person who works hard. I first saw it with a genius programmer I knew in high school. He already knew everything there was to know on the course. He barely had to put any effort in to remember things and I couldn't do it no matter how hard I tried. He later received a scholarship only one person in each of the county's schools received. Was good to meet him but knowing him taught me that geniuses are on another level, and if you haven't met one yourself, then you have no idea how far above the average person they are.

Bro at 14:55 where tall mario goes in the pipe was the most curse and funniest thing i ever seen in mario wonders, HE STARES AT THE SCREEN WHILE HIS ARM JUST EXTEND TO GRAB HIS HAT LOL

That was actually so hype to watch. I was team metal from the very beginning so whenever they got in trouble I was super worried, but the fact they made it so much further than everyone except Hoppycat was super exciting

This challenge was the definition of Hard Work vs Raw Talent, and Metal Mario made it SO FAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But sadly, he did not have the hops...

Funny how Tall Mario and Metal Mario were pretty much complete opposites of each other. Tall Mario seemed untouchable for most of his run but when his Achilles heel was fully revealed it destroyed him very quickly. Metal Mario's weaknesses were used against him constantly. Beaten down time and time again. But it took a lot before he finally stayed down.

Also I love how nothing can damage Metal. True to his original game. Even though Nintendo didn’t intend us to be able to use him on every level you have proven Nintendo still made him indestructible for the whole game and all obstacles.

Personally I would love to see how much of the game is possible with Metal Mario. Assuming he had all badges at his disposal and didn't have to worry about Wonder Seed restrictions, how much of the game could Metal Mario finish, if not fully clear? (getting all purple coins, non-transformation Wonder Flower segments, secret routes, etc.). Given that Metal Mario is just the standard game but with the jump and speed handicap, that would make for a fun challenge.

You should absolutely make a video seeing how far hoppycat can go, and I already know he’ll be going to world 4 at least, since he is from world 3 and is the power up in some of those levels. I was rooting for them and am so happy they won.

The dolphin kick might only work in the first challenge because in that level you don’t have it when you first get it so it might be coded differently

If people are already modding Mario Wonder to do stuff like this I wonder how long it'll take for people to work out how to do custom transformations and recreate some Mario Odyssey captures in it, especially the Pokio since that'd probably be pretty cool to try and navigate levels with.

Spoilers: I was team Metal Mario the whole way, so tragic his hard fought journey ended in the finals. Congrats to Hoppycat Mario on becoming the king of the wonder transformations! Team underdogs for life!

I thought Balloon Mario was going to make it.
