That staff roll theme always brings me to tears. Maybe because when I heard that theme for the first time, I had this big sense of accomplishment. This game at the time was the biggest game to me, and to finally finish it to the end as a kid, it was just euphoric. Hearing the happy tune in the end as the birds chirped off into the distance and the credits roll some of my favorite moments of the game just to quickly relive it. This game is just amazing. One of the most memorable experiences of my life.

Dude, when he said “22 years later and Mario is still dancing on all these mega-budget games with their clunky ass characters” (about 1:16) I immediately thought of how Odyssey is doing so well and how the first thing that is always brought up is how smooth it plays. It’s just fun to jump around, and it works so well. It’s basically just a sequel to SM64, yet it trounces so many other massive titles that are way more complex.

This video is the most inspirational dunkey video to me, perhaps the most inspiring video period. I've struggled to talk about games and topics that I truly enjoy and appreciate for years in the fear of not being able to convey my emotions, thoughts and importance of said games and topics to myself and undersell, not so them justice - and dunko just comes in slam-dunking it perfectly. Expression like this is truly something to strive for and it's exactly why I love your videos.

The thing about videos like these, where Dunkey just reviews a game he loves, it’s that they’re infinitely replayable. And it’s not because he has any hot takes that I haven’t heard before, it’s not because I personally love this game, and it’s not even the jokes. The way he talks about Super Mario 64 is so joyful, it just makes you feel the same kind of joy when you listen to him. I love the way he loves video games

The 90s was a pretty wild decade. I remember playing Super Mario 42 with my buddies after school. Bowser killed half of the mushroom kingdom with the Infinity Gauntlet, so Mario, Luigi and the gang go back in time to correct the timeline. Mind you, at this point "the gang" had 6 Yoshis, four Princeses (2 shadow version) and the "lost" Mario brother; Guiseppe. If you 100%'d Super Mario 40: Resistance and Super Mario 41: Electric Boogaloo you then unlocked the elite strike team of Seal Toad 6, Lakitu: God of Thunder and of course the hidden nation of Wakanda.

Thank you dunkey. For this video I finally played Super Mario 64 through 3D collection and it was a pure joy. It’s a masterpiece even in 2021. I also owe you two Power Stars from the volcano level, which I didn’t know existed. Cheers for that!

I love Dunkey and all of his videos. But I think this one is probably my favorite because not only does it perfectly capture how much Dunkey loves this game, but it perfectly reminds me just how much I love this game. Super Mario 64 is probably the first game I ever played. I was 4 when I first played Mario 64, and I thought it was the greatest thing ever. The clip Dunkey does at the end just showcasing the gameplay with the music overlayed brings me back to that memory of sitting on the floor in my room, looking up at the screen, and discovering a whole new world full of wonder and adventures. Ever since then, I've loved playing video games, and I've loved Mario Games. Dunkey, thank you for the amazing video, and for the nostalgia trip.

Everybody meme'ing here as usual, but I gotta say, I think this was a very well made and thought through review, Dunkey. I enjoy your comedy content, but its always a joy hearing your views on video games, an art form you seem to be passionate about. And I can tell that you've given this game a lot of thought.

(Also, not at all shaming anyone for not knowing. For anyone curious, the clip that was shown was of a pianist covering Giant Steps, by John Coltrane, one of the greatest giants of jazz, and one of the best musicians in American history).

Mario 64 was truly a masterpiece. The first time I played it, me and my buddy stayed up until 3am and got in trouble by his mom, and we had school the next day (6th grade). I regretted it, but I wouldn't have traded it for anything. Definitely a part of my childhood
