You could add fine graphite powder to the baking soda . Mix well until you get a grey color. Or use ground cinnamon with the baking soda and mix it dry. Get a light brown color .Take ground cinnamon , fine graphite powder, baking soda and mix it together. You get a nice brownish black color. THEN fill a cracked plastic object by the crack, use a small spoon or brush and wipe the dry colorant you made into the crack. THEN add several drops of super glue along the crack. Instant welds the two pieces back!

You can repair chipped bone knife handles and guitar parts with this method also. It doesn’t matter what order you combine the stuff . Once they touch, the combination becomes hard as stone. It’s standard procedure for repairing a chipped bone guitar nut or filling an improperly cut string slot.

As a woodworker, one of tne pitfalls is when a chip occurs, especially around a drilled hole or at an end of a saw cut. Using the thicker type of super glue, apply it to the the chipped area, press in the finest bits of sawdust available, allow it to dry, sand it smooth, and you're good to go.

Yes, it's very useful. I had the left arm of my wire frame glasses break off, and I didn't have any time for almost two weeks that I could get a new rx, and pair, so I used this method on them. I glued the arm back on, built it up in layers, used a hobby knife and sand paper, and shaped it similar to the shape of the glasses. Then I used brown pencil and clear nail varnish to make them look like they had never been broken. I had heard of this method from a video of an aircraft mechanic that uses it to fill in chips, and minor cracks, in propeller blades from loose gravel dings.

There are endless uses for superglue. My daughter had a truck that had a small hole in the boot of the rack and pinon. At first I thought the worst but a mechanic told me to clean the area real good and put some superglue in the hole. Simple. I've also used superglue on cuts that I couldn't keep closed. Now, I don't advise putting superglue on any wounds UNLESS its intended for it. Because superglue is toxic but they make medical superglue but it's a bit pricey.

At the top of a guitar neck is what's called the nut. It's what holds the strings in place. The slots in the nut that hold the strings need to be a specific depth. So there's nut files that are the same thickness of each string. If you cut the nut slot too deep, instead of buying a new nut, you add baking soda and then drip super glue on the baking soda and then re file the slot. Yes, it's rock hard!!

This works like a charm on hockey stick blade’s. Over time the blade begins to breakdown or feels flexible aka “soft”. Basically the carbon fiber weaves develop little crack’s that make a crunchy noise while manually flexing the blade with your hand. I found that a liberal application of the glue and powder is easily sanded down after it cures so there’s not a lump under the tape. The glue mix also works awesome on area’s on the blade that don’t get taped, especially on the backhand side where the cracks typically start, the bottom where there’s usually no tape as well.

Where was this when I had to repair shipping damage on a plastic lid?! It took a week to build up layers of glue, angling the lid to keep it from dripping, getting glue on other stuff, ugh. Now I want something to glue.... Just because, here's a baking soda tip for tenderizing meat in the kitchen. Make a mixture of baking soda and water, about one teaspoon in a cup of water. Take a pound or so of raw meat like chicken breast, cut into 1 inch cubes and mix with the baking soda water. Let it sit for about ten minutes (less is more, here), then rinse *thoroughly.* Continue with your recipe as usual. It's called velveting and is why meat is tender, even in stir fries. This is a old school plastic modelers trick. Ive been using this trick for the past 2 decades :) To fix breaks, or modifying plastic model car bodies, frames, even gears in rc car/truck drivetrain. Works great. Any CA Glue with it also works Great. Off course this is only for building material onto surfaces and then shaping to form. For regular bonding of 2 parts, u want to use the glue with a adhesive accelerant spray. Just letting the glue cure on its own doesnt always result in a solid bond. Most people forget to apply pressure equally on both parts for the initial 30 seconds to take advantage of the thermal chemical reaction that takes place when the glue comes into contact with plastic, or other surfaces rated use for, or the application steps are cut short. Any time bonding 2 surfaces, its the contact cement process of application that works the best. Apply glue to both parts wanting to bond, and let it sit briefly for couple seconds (allows for the thermal chemical reaction to get going) and then join the 2 parts together and apply pressure for 20 to 30 seconds. And its solid. If its a clean break on like cracked off or apart, before applying glue, so light sanding with coarse grit sandpaper to scuff the surface, so the glue has various points to bite when it reacts. But yeah i love the baking soda trick. Its my goto for 2 decades and will be my goto, along with adhesive accelerant spray. A must have

I heard about this from a friend and he had no explanation on any of it other than it worked so I speculated a little about the properties of baking soda and tried it with cigarette ashes and it worked well with that also so it may be any very finely milled alkaline powder will do just in case you don't have baking soda. I didn't try it with anything else but I'm going to assume other replacement materials with similar properties would also work

The baking soda with CA glue is a good trick that I've used for years, but better for filling a void than joining plastic components together. When you use an accelerator, like baking soda, it creates a fast hard joint, but the joint is so hard that it is far more brittle and likely to snap again if there is any stress or movement.

I've always used superglue on wounds. However, it can cause serious complications with your wound if it's too deep, because the skin will grow over the superglue and itll be stuck inside. Your body will try to push it out, or it will try to kill it off, causing serious inflammation and infection. DO NOT USE SUPERGLUE ON SERIOUS WOUNDS!

Endless possibilities. If a screw/bolt continues to loosen you can put superglue on the threads, if you don't have loctite, and before it dries turn the screw so it doesn't get stuck. If a hole in wood, plastic, etc gets stripped out you can fill the hole and redrill it after the glue dries. Or fill the hole and thread the screw or bolt in and out; creating new threads. Lastly, my friend told me about the superglue/baking soda trick. So the plastic cover for the air filter on our lawnmower got tore up by the same mower. A good amount of plastic was missing but I was able to fill in all the gaps. Also, the power window switches on our truck had a big plastic piece that held it in place broke off so it wouldn't stay. I was able to recreate the whole plastic piece by adding layers of glue and baking soda which I filed and dremeled. If you have patience, you can do so much. And yes, the combination becomes rock hard.

Adding a drop of water to superglue also increases the cure rate. Use a toothpick. Single drop is all you need. This works exceptionally well on stripped plastic threads where you may not want to wait or fill and retap. You can poke around with the toothpick where the threads were and the slurry of water and glue can make enough material for the screw to bite.
