Super C (NES / Famicom) Completed No Deaths, 1CC in

Ойындар

Here's my no death run of the NES / Famicom port of Super Contra using mostly safe strats while also trying to get through the game as quick as possible.
While the arcade version is a favorite of mine, I'm less familiar with the re-titled console version "Super C". I believe the title was changed to not conflate itself with the Iran-Contra scandal at the time.
Compared to the arcade, this game is probably easier and only has a few truly random moments. The the huge alien heads popping up from the floor in level 6 can appear under you without warning and not give you enough time to move before taking a death.
After beating the game, it loops with no increase in difficulty for subsequent playthroughs.
Played on the MiSTer FPGA without autofire, using default settings (there's no other difficulty to my knowledge) with an 8BitDo SN30 Pro pad: imgur.com/myZ31gp
As always, thank you for watching!

I don’t remember the later levels of this game, but the first few levels looked fairly faithful to the arcade.

definitely, the first levels have some additional sections and more enemies. The later 2 levels are basically all exclusive to the console port, since the arcade version only had 5 stages. I have a fun time playing either!

Sadly the Super Contra does not have cutscenes like the original one :( Cool video though!

Speed run much (Not shooting all the turrets)...?

I wouldn't say this is a speedrun, I was just going as quickly as I could while remaining relatively safe since my goal was no death / nomiss. I didn't route anything heavily at any point, just used the basic familiarity I learned on the game for this run. Thanks for watching!

@@Pete_Hahn I know. Back then I used to shoot all the turrets to crank up the points. "I should practice before get Contra Operation Galuga."

It was only titled "Super C" for the localization here (US). And then you have the even more ridiculous title for the PAL system. The Family Computer port is, correctly, titled "Super Contra". Leave it to some cowardly executive(s) to come up with a nonsensical solution because American kids certainly would have associated the sequel to _Contra_ with Oliver North's trial and then connected that to the political scandal which had ended three years earlier. Me and my nine year old friends theorized that the aliens represented Iranians and that this game was anti-Iran propaganda. We wondered if there were any sleeper agents in the US whom Konami was hoping to activate. We figured it was their plan, all along, to turn us into soldiers who would seek out super weapons to destroy all Iranians. But the title confused us and, ultimately, kept us at bay. It's a good thing the title was modified or else the American equivalent to Hitler's Third Reich would have been born in April of 1990. In all seriousness, "Super C" does _not_ refer to the original version on the Family Computer. I believe there are additional in-game differences (one or more) between the original version and the localizations, as well. Too often, people conflate the Family Computer with the NES. They are _not_ the same system.
