Complete mile by mile SCT Hiking Guide & Maps: riseandalpine.com/2023/02/13/...
The Sunshine Coast Trail is a 180km backcountry hut-to-hut hiking experience that stretches from Sarah Point in Desolation Sound to Saltery Bay South of Powell River British Columbia. The experience and terrain is truly unique and the landscape is constantly changing from rocky mountaintops to old growth forest and coastal shoreline. There are 15 amazing huts that you can sleep in and the trail is amazingly maintained. In this episode Laura and I hike 45km section the Sunshine Coast Trail from Lang Bay to Saltery Bay in a single night. On the way I tour you around every single hut we pass by (Sunshine Coast Cribs). We passed by shoreline of Lois Lake, toured the Golden Stanley Hut, ate lunch at Elephant Lake, visited the Mount Troubridge Hut, made dinner and slept in the emergency shelter on the summit of Mount Troubridge, explored Rainy Day Lake and checked out the Fairview Bay Hut!
A huge thanks to PAWS (Powell River Parks and Wilderness Society) the volunteer group that maintains and improves the trail. You can choose your own adventure and hike the SCT as a thru-hike in 8-12 days or hike it in different sections.

Hey James, I was wondering if you had any suggestions for hikes to take my friends on. We usually do one every summer to mark the end of the break and start of the school year. Last year we did all three peaks of the chief and found it really fun because of all the features and the fact that it never got old.

If you want to do something a little more adventurous in the sea to sky area I would recommend trying the Brandywine Peak Trail or the Rohr Mountain Trail. Both are awesome day hiking adventures!!

Best way to train for this? You guys seem to be able to knock out a lot of kms in one day! I live in MB so we don’t have much elevation like this to practice haha

We stay pretty active and do a lot of interval style strength/cardio workouts. However, I think the best way to train for hiking is to walk anlot (even better with some weight on your back). Since you live somewhere very flat hop on a stairclimber or find some stadium stairs you can hike up and down.

@@riseandalpine amazing! Yeah my plan is to do a bunch of winter hikes now, and gradually add weight on my back, then I’ll be ready! (My bf and I are doing this stretch of the hike in may so we have some time to practice!)
