Most people don’t know where Sunday rest/worship comes from. I say this in respect and for informational purposes, not to offend. God rested on the seventh day, not the first day. The first day known as Sunday is a pagan day dedicated to the worship of the sun god. In 321 a.d. Constantine made it a law that Sunday would be the common day for rest and worship in order to unite Christians and Pagans. Jesus and His disciples kept Saturday. The Catholic Church claims Sunday as her ecclesiastical authority because Protestants keep the Sabbath of the RCC’s invention and not the true Sabbath of the Bible. God wrote it in stone symbolizing it’s unchangeableness and Jesus, in the New Testament said to, “pray that your flight be neither in the winter nor on the Sabbath day.” He never changed it because God’s law is unchangeable. If it could be changed He wouldn’t have had to die to pay the penalty for us transgressing them. Forced Sunday rest is on the horizon and God never forces. Climate Sunday will eventually morph into a universal mandatory day of rest.

I am Southern Baptist from Alabama and we had piano and organ growing up but I was very surprised to know one of the songs that you were singing the first one. I haven't heard it in so long but I sang right along because until I was 20 and met my now ex-husband unfortunately I'm 41 now but I started going to his parents church which had the big giant screens and a huge choir and a full band and I did not ever get used to the production I mean sound stage people up in the loft and three or 400 people at two different services every Sunday. I was used to a small country church where when a visitor walked in they were welcomed and they had people that automatically would just get up and catch them at the door and make them feel welcome and wanted. At their church I was trying to find out where his family sat and I asked the people that were welcoming at the front and giving out the church schedule for that morning and not one person that I asked even knew who his family was and his dad played the drums and the orchestra. His parents did children's choir and nobody could tell me who they were. That was an eye-opening experience and I am trying now that I'm divorced to find that small country church atmosphere. Baptist we are very modest on Sundays growing up but it is church it looked like some of the girls were coming in from the club on Saturday night coming straight to church on Sunday morning. It made me blush. My son is 14 but thank goodness he's not a girl because number one I'm 6 ft 1 so she would be massive and number 2 I don't have to worry about modesty. Boys are just so much easier. I love your videos! I do not think that there's very many things different in a southern Baptist religion than Mormons they're obvious differences but I feel like I could walk into one and feel comfortable. Anyway love the video God bless you and your family and that sweet baby. Can't wait to see he or she when they arrive.

I do something similar on Shabbat for meals. Every other day is cutting and cooking vegetables and cheese or meat, which takes me an hour or more per meal. Shabbat is simple meals I can either cook in the microwave or eat without any cooking. It helps to set shabbat apart from the rest of the week. P.S., I really enjoyed the singing; very nice. I used to sing more; and, I really miss that sometimes! I need to get back to that. Thank you for sharing.

@@melpu310 That's nonsense. We have writings of the Early Church from the early 2nd Century (Look up Tertuillian and Justin Martyr) that clearly describes Sunday worship and makes reference to the fact that the Sabbath worship is on the Sunday, the day of Christ's resurrection.

We don't do any work. We also don't cook on our Sabbath, everything is prepared beforehand. I look forward to our Sabbath all week. I'm a Christian Seventh-day Adventist and we keep Saturday holy instead of Sunday like you. It was the original day of rest kept by both Jews and Christians until Constantine changed it (for christians) to Sunday worship in the 4th century. For us we rest and worship and fellowship on the seventh day sabbath and don't work either. It's a blessing. Some other Christian denominations keep Sabbath as well, for example seventh day Baptists.

Molly Serkin. This is what I love about a day dedicated to our Faith. I am a Catholic, and our special day is also about spending time to Worship but it’s also about family and just being together (so many people forget to have special family time…time to reset the heart and head I think). During Covid lockdown in the UK our churches were closed so I REALLY missed that feeling of sharing Faith, but we still got together with family where possible (even for face time calls). It was a difficult time for everyone. Keep the Faith and love your family.

Hi Megan, I’d love to know where I can get a copy of your Bible. I am fascinated by other peoples Faiths and try to read up as much as I can. I was raised a Catholic but lapsed for a while in my teens….but when I met and married my husband and our children came along, my Faith came back and my children learned about our Faith. I LOVE that there are so many different beliefs in the world and I am amazed at some of the similarities many of them, the focus is always on family and togetherness…which I love. I think that no matter what your Faith is, we should strive to learn more. God Bless.

That brought back soooo many memories….. I was a foster child in a Mennonite home and if it hadn’t been for their family, I would not be the person I am today !! I knew nothing about God or the Bible when I was placed with them so although they have passed on now , I know that I am forever indebted to them for teaching me so many IMPORTANT things. I would give anything to go back and wish I had been adopted by them but God had other plans 😊😊 I loved Sundays in their home, the food, the fellowship at church, the Sundays when we had church family over for a large meal and yes….even the quiet time ❤️

Hello! I am a Christian, African American, Mother of 2 females (I'm actually an older mother-getting close to 50:-). I currently also reside in PA - the NE area. I think you are so special and inspirational and God is truly using you in His own way. You came up in my feed (I watch some other Christian families and you kept popping up here and there). I had heard of the name Megan Fox before but I did not know how the person with the name, the actress, looked. I was a little confused and thought maybe the actress became a Christian or she is different or something - based on the pictures and I think you were cooking something in the first video I saw, lol, so I clicked. However, while I eventually realized you were not the actress, smile, I did realize that I had just met someone even better, a nice, sweet and still super cool Christian Mennonite woman! God is awesome and sometimes comical how He can draw us to others. I have loved the videos I have seen thus far and also your diverse music - I listen to all types of Christian music pop, country, jazz, gospel, etc... so I appreciate your diversity of sound in your background music it is either calm, relaxing, tranquil or just fun - good taste. Thanks for great, clean content. God bless you and love you with the love of Christ.

When your daughter licked the paint brush instead of her sucker, that brief clip made my day 😂😂 thank you for sharing this video, I live close to a lot of Amish communities but have often wondered what a DITL looks like for a Mennonite! I have found myself, as a non-denominational Christian, looking for something more from "my culture," and I think what I'm truly looking for is that intentional lifestyle and true rest. So much of my day to day life is still very much ingrained in the American culture. So it was fun being inspired from your video. 😊

My mom didn’t cook big meals on Sunday ever when I was a kid. We always ate lunch out after church and then dinner was always leftovers, soup, or make your own sandwiches. (The most she did was pour soup in a pot or put lunch meat and sandwich toppings out on a platter.) I guess since she was a special education teacher, she really did take Sunday as a day of rest to prepare herself for an often challenging work week. And we all turned out fine. I never missed having a huge Sunday meal. Plus getting our own food together promoted independence.

There is nothing like dresses/skirts to make a woman feel more feminine. Well, they do me. Thank you for a look into your Sabbath. I've always prepared our dinner on Saturdays, so I don't have to cook. I love that the kids are with you in "big church" for the "main" message and teaching time. Though there is no "Christian Sabbath" in the New Testament, it is a celebration of the first day of the week when Christ rose from the dead. It's a day when we don't have to do traditional "work," but are blessed to be able to spend the day in worship, fellowship, and glorifying God without hindrance of everyday toil.

I am LDS and we have a fairly similar Sunday to yours. We do try to avoid spending money on Sundays as part of keeping the sabbath day holy. Everyone deserves to have their day of rest, even though society wants to be open 24/7 nowadays. Also I agree about having kids be a part of the service. All families are together for our first hour (it's called the sacrament but it's like other church's service hour) and the second hour is Sunday school where we divide off into our classes.

That way when we get home on a gloomy, cloudy day we have something warm and toasty ready to eat. Plus, it keeps the kids happy too since they can eat right away when they can’t play outside to distract their hungry bellies while I make something. And of course it’s easy on our budget too since it’s only on rainy Sundays!

We are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Our Sundays look very similar to yours. We dress modestly and respectfully whenever we are in our chapels for Sunday services. Our Sunday service is two hours long. The first hour we have prayer and singing and members will share gospel messages with the congregation. We also partake of the sacrament each Sunday. Second hour we break off into individual class time. Children and youth have their specific classes as do men and women. Every other week the men and women’s class is combined. In our faith we try to avoid spending money on the Sabbath, which means we don’t go shopping or out to eat. We feel everyone should have a day of rest. We have simple, easy to prepare meals on Sunday and it’s a great day for napping, visiting with family or friends, reading scriptures and just getting recharged for the week ahead. I absolutely loved hearing your congregation sing. So beautiful! Next time I visit my father in Pennsylvania I just might visit a Mennonite church! (We welcome and love having visitors, too)

I loved the singing! Would love to hear when more people are there! My husband is a pastor, so Sunday is kind of a "work day" for us in a lot of ways, so we take Fridays off. They fill up sometimes when people have needs, but we are able to enjoy many of them just to rest and do things we want to do together or individually. And today is Friday, so you can see one of the things I enjoy doing and find relaxing and refreshing is watching your videos! ❤️

Oh, and my two year old grandson drives his little car all over my husband and me. My four year old grand daughter does lots of art both during Sunday school and during the church service.

I'm Baptist and Sundays are days of rest for us, as well. We go to church and Sunday school. Afterwards we go out to lunch usually and then go home and rest for the rest of the day. When I was a kid, we would always go to my grandmother's house after church for a late lunch and spend the afternoon with family, usually singing or playing games and just enjoying each other's company. I miss those times. Everyone is too busy to slow down and enjoy their families and spend quality time. Makes me sad. 😔

Love this video ! Every Sunday is different for us as well but always includes church and rest ....I am 56 now and when I was a little girl growing up in Georgia , we would go to my grandmothers’ house in the afternoon and sit on her front porch ,drink very sweet homemade tea and my mom and her sister would tell stories and we would laugh so hard we couldn’t breathe....there were rocking chairs for rocking and a screened side porch for napping and it was one of the best parts of my childhood.....I am thankful for porches and I love rocking on mine everyday ....the simple things are the sweetest ! Thank You Lord for showing us how to enjoy life’s simple pleasures and I ask continued blessings on Megan and Josh and their precious family !!!

I'm a Latter-day Saint and our Sundays are pretty similar. Church services are simple, with family sacrament meeting for the first hour with that ordinance and talks/sermons from congregation members (asked by the bishop) in the first hour and divided classes in the second hour, though most singing is with the organ. We don't work, shop, go to paid events, order out, or do other things that require other people to work either; those get planned for other days (though of course running to the store for emergency medicine and things like that is totally fine). Sometimes we do a fancy meal if we want to, other times it's something simple and easy with minimal cleanup. We set the table extra nice, do Zoom storytime with grandparents, listen to uplifting music more intentionally than during the week, I work on our church newsletter (that's my calling, aka volunteer job I was asked to do and happily accepted), etc. In an ideal world I'd also have/make more time for hobbies like my flute or calligraphy, but I do try to journal via my private family blog. Sometimes we walk around the neighborhood and chat a bit with neighbors, go on a family bike ride, etc. On Monday evenings we have scripture- or principle-based church lessons as a family to either recap Sunday's lessons, prep for the week, or focus on a lesson our kids need (this week it was bike safety for my almost 6yo who just learned to ride a two wheeler and needs to know how to be safe now that his participation in that activity is different).

Quite a lovely video. The singing sounds like the Mennonite church of my childhood. We used to have big "company" meals on Sundays and then the simplest of meals for Sunday supper. I'm curious about how aspects of your Mennonite life have changed in the past decades. For example, it appears that your mother is wearing a cape dress, which you do not, and I suspect that she does not use mascara. The concept of a Sabbath rest is one more of us could put into practice, although with many women working full-time outside of the home it becomes difficult. I continue to appreciate the spirit and quality of your videos, and you have such a beautiful family. Thanks for all the work you put into making them interesting, informative, and joyful.

I am Baptist, but I sure recognized your songs. Beautiful singing! Sunday School and about 40 minutes of preaching...sounds like my church. I am a widow, now, so I don't have to cook. When the children were growing up, I did cook, but tried to prepare as much as possible on Saturday. I didn't want to spend that time on Sunday. Sunday afternoon, my husband and I 'might' watch a game on TV. The children just wanted to play. Sometimes I would take a nap. Our activities varied, but were laid back and a time to unwind. I'm glad to see a young family in church attendance and spending time with each other.🙂

We are Episcopalian and we go and pick up my mom and a friend for the service. Then my mom comes for lunch, which is very simple. I always rest on Sunday. Funny story...we were looking to attend a new church when we moved to a new state 6 yrs ago. We made a list of all the churches we wanted to visit. Well, we stumbled in to a Mennonite church. I knew right away but my mom and hubs had no clue. We are sitting and waiting for the service to start and my 87yr old mom says very LOUDLY why do the women have bonnets on? Everyone was very nice to us.
