Restoration of a 1971 Sunbeam Alpine Fastback. The car was hidden away in Manchester, UK for nearly 30 years. This video shows the story of its 3 year rebuild.

Lovely resto, always liked the styling has a Jenen Interceptoresque appeal to me (a sort of average persons Jensen if you like) but more practical, my father bought Hillman Hunters but I always hoped he'd get one of the fastback Rootes group cars.

Magnifique! Here in Virginia, this ex Surrey lad went to Georgia to buy one with 3600 original miles a year back, thus saving me the trouble of restoration. My Plymouth Cricket though, that is undergoing restoration. Long live Chrysler United Kingdom in the US!

Good to hear the ex Rootes/Chrysler cars have a strong following in the USA. Plymouth crickets are great cars, bit rare like the Sunbeam Fastback. Well built too, cheers.

That is certainly a rare car especially in America, really cool. I like it more than the MGB GT.

Thanks, yes they are quite rare. The styling was influenced by an American car, the Plymouth Barracuda!

Beautiful restoration, think it's had a replacement engine at some time as Alpines came with a 1725 alloy head engine and single carb, yours has the single carb but has the iron head, that engine usually found in the Hunter or Minx

Although the rapier was more popular due to performance and trim, there's something to admire about the Alpines simpler appointments.
