    The 90s? I used this stuff in the late 70s, my sister used it in the 80s. It didn't do anything at all for me, but it turned my sister's hair a lovely shade of tangerine. It took all summer to reach that shade too, lol. I remember if you couldn't get out in the sun you could use your blow dryer to activate it. O and we weren't supposed to use it if you were going into a chlorine pool because, rumor was, it would turn your hair green!

    It’s doesn’t work on everyone’s hair unfortunately and bright bright isn’t achievable on most hair 🤣 thank you for the clarification on how long sun in has been around!!

    Remember that stuff from the 70’s it worked well on blondes and light brown shades only. Dark brown would turn orange 🍊.

    I used that in the 80s and it made my hair a lovely colour I was very fair so didn't take long to lighten it, but my hairdresser at the time said it was really bad for my hair so I stopped using it.

    My hairstylist told me that sun-in is really bad for the hair because it is leave-in so the chemicals are reacting for a long time in the hair. I have been using it for years in the 90s because it is so simple to use but it gave me an orange hue and indeed damaged my hair quite a lot.

  • @TheAngeSchofield

    @TheAngeSchofield

    Yes I agree with your hairstylist it’s damaging when left in…. Personally if I ever used it I would leave it in for a few hours but would always wash it out but I would imagine not everyone would do that 😊 Those orange and reddish undertones are notorious with sun in I’m afraid.

    Could you suggest a way to tone it for those of us who have already used it and turned dishwater hair bright yellow? I don’t know much about hair, but my natural hair’s ashy blond and I wanted it lighter ashy blond. Any conceivable way to get there from a light (and brassy) yellow? Thanks!

    Thank you for this! I bought sun-in on amazon, but my hair is so dark I decided to go online & see if it even worked. Now I know the cost of the damage on my hair would be worse than the +$100 bucks it will cost for me to get it done professionally.

    Don’t go back and forth between colors. You were born to be blond. You don’t need to think about it. Just stick to light blond neutral. You’re wasting time with any other color. Be your best and move up from there.

    Would you say that lemon juice is healthier then a hair lightener?

  • @TheAngeSchofield

    @TheAngeSchofield

    Жыл бұрын

    Honestly it’s hard to say. Most lighteners now have added conditioning benefits, the one I typically use has jojoba and castor bean to help with reducing damage and replenish nutrients while processing. Sometimes the citric acid in lemon juice really dries out the hair and that can make it feel more damaged than lightener

  • @TheAngeSchofield

    If you never want to color your hair or put highlight on your hair sun in is fine but if you decide to use bleach ever I wouldn’t do it. When using on dark brown hair it won’t lift blonde and you maybe have more of a copper/warm tones

  • @TheAngeSchofield

    Unfortunately there isnt a lot you can do to lighten that dark of hair without using something that will dry out your hair. You could try lemon juice but you may only notice a slight change and it will also expose warmer undertones
