We have 2 of these and took them out fishing for the first time today,, Neither of us have ever been in a kayak before today. We were both totally pleased with out Journey 10SS’s once we got comfortable in them. They tracked straight, moved with virtually no effort, handled great and were comfortable .We added foam hunting seat pads from WalMart to make it more comfortable and to keep out butts out of the water that accumulates from our paddles. We each weigh about 200#. Ignore all the old negative reviews on this boat as it appears that Sundolphin listed to the complaints and made the necessary modifications. The hull is different from that shown in older reviews, scupper plugs are included and there are only 2 scupper holes (under the seat) instead of 4. When not paddling, it continues to float perfectly straight and does not turn like described in the older reviews. I got ours on sale last fall at Tractor Supply for $199 each. Around Christmas and on Black Friday, they were selling them for only $169. They are a bargain at those prices.

Matias Ramonot got the same kayak only downfall does terrible with choppy water, in wind/rain. Does well in a river though and calm water difficult to stand in but can be done

I bought 2 these years ago. I had also just purchased a used Tarpon 140. All were fantastic. You really have to try to flip these. I didn't find them unstable at all. It was harder to flip the Tarpon but I believe that is due to the additional length. Only complaint was the spinning when not paddling. Would not hesitate to buy again.

The side bunji is a paddle holder bud, just in case you hadn't discovered yet. Also you can pull that removable box in the back with ya as a tow behind real easy 👍

I bought this kayak as well, because I got it super cheap, and I'm going to mod it like crazy. I'm going to add a wise boat seat and a couple of buoys for stabilization, because I'm a 200 pounder. Thanks for the review!

Is this a kids kayak? I'm older than you (40) but smaller (5'8, 195). I'm thinking this would be good for just relaxing and floating on the river. And that back storage compartment would be perfect for ice and "beverages".

honestly probably not more then 50-100

I made a few modifications to my Sun Dolphin in the past five years. I plugged the scupper holes, I added rod holders, a fish finder, handles on the sides, a rudder, outriggers and a raised seat. You can check them out here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/mntkyK9uc9vchqg.html

Yes I'm 320 and I love this kayak mine is red though. But super comfy and holds me and my gear up very well, I've used in on lakes and rivers. This thing is my baby lol
